Simple answer, Mormans are much easier and more PC to attack than blacks who voted 71% for Prop 8.

The reason the Mormon church was being targeted was because they contributed a ton to the $73M ad campaign (that flat out lied IMO, but go to P&N for my take on that).

That said, I think the vandalism that was done is also wrong and doesn't help anything.

Three reasons.
1. The LDS church makes for an easy target because it's fairly big
2. Mormons were a big force in getting the prop on the ballot and donated a lot of money towards getting it passed, from what I understand.
3. Many people, myself included, don't think what is a religious ideology issue should be law, let alone a state constitutional amendment. It also seems to violate the 14th amendment of the US constitution.

Again...Prop 8 was not the Mormon's fault...the "No" side had twice as much money, celebrity endorsements, etc...they made critical errors in their campaigning...and lost...get over it lol

Everyone seems to miss the fact that it was already a law in California before the Supreme court over-ruled the Majority...The Majority got upset and put it back into effect by reinstating it...The Mormons did not start it...

Religiosity (and to a lesser extent homophobia) amongst the black community has always been very high. I don't see how anyone was blindsided by the turnout.
