<-- Mormon
<-- Wonders why Mormon's are being targeted for prop8 if only 2% of California is Mormon. It's not as if the church forced 51% of the other people in the state to vote that way, let alone the Mormons themselves.
<-- Thinks this thread will result in a huge flame war. I'm out.
Simple answer, Mormans are much easier and more PC to attack than blacks who voted 71% for Prop 8.

Blacks didn't donate huge sums of money to destroy other people's lives; unlike the insane, carpetbagging cult members from Utah.

Devout Anti-Mormon here...
IMO, there's no church group in the USA that has a more hate-filled history than the Moroni-worshipers.
Just look at their historical treatment of blacks...their support of more hate-filled agenda doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

The LDS church has had issues with race in the past, as has the entire US. But, those issues were resolved in the 70's.
Irrational hatred is irrational.
You seem to forget Catholicism, Judaism, Islam, and just about every other religion on record.IMO, there's no church group in the USA that has a more hate-filled history than the Moroni-worshipers.

Ever so coincidentally, Kimball (or who ever was President at the time) "Had a Dream" that overturned those rules against Blacks...I say coincidentally because it was about the same time the NAACP sued over this bit:
"In 1974 the NAACP sued the LDS Church because it didn't allow black boy scouts in LDS Church-sponsored scouting troops to become patrol-leaders. They had always been allowed into Mormon scouting troops, but they couldn't become patrol-leaders." (actually, any non-Mormon was so discriminated against)
"Shortly before Boy Scout officials were to appear in Federal Court Friday morning on charges of discrimination, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued a policy change which will allow black youths to be senior patrol leaders, a position formerly reserved for white LDS youths in troops sponsored by the church. An LDS Church spokesman said Friday under the "guidelines set forth in the statement, a young man other than president of the deacons quorum could (now) become the senior patrol leader if he is better qualified". - (Salt Lake Tribune, August 3, 1974).
Mormon President Spencer W. Kimball "had been subpoenaed to testify" in the suit (Ibid., Oct. 23), but on Nov. 7, 1974 the Tribune reported: "A suit claiming discrimination against blacks by the Boy Scouts of America was dismissed Wednesday in federal court...all parties to the suit..signed an agreement stating the alleged discrimination 'has been discontinued.'"
