What personal financial software do you recommend?

I need to manage my finances. Ideally, my financial software would track all my deposits and debits and predict if I come close to over drafting. Quicken is the first thing that comes to mind, but I didn't care for the 2011 version and the fact that I have to pay for annual upgrades. Mint scares me because it's freeware and I don't want digital herpes. I'd appreciate your recommendations. Thank you.

We have used Quicken for years and it does have a lot of nice features. It has gotten a bit bogged down over the years, but I wouldn't use anything else (not that there is much out there, and not at a better price). And you don't have to buy a new version every year. I am trying to remember the exact time frame, but I know you can go at least three years before an upgrade is needed to download banking info, but that is the only feature that would be lost IIRC.

Been using MS Money 2006 for 8 years now - works perfectly in XP, 7, 8, and 8.1. Does everything I need with no further updates or fees.
