Here's a pic of the two together. It's from 2006 right after I found them...

The girl's names are Frankie, Frankenstein, Kitten Chops, and/or Pudgie. The boy's names are Junior, June June, Junebug, and/or Asshole

You realize your "nothing special" is probably a pretty sweet camera to us normal people. Better than my Nikon superzoom. Wish I had a better camera. My next project is a badass home server. My computer hobby takes precedence over my camera hobby.

when you look to go to an interchangeable lens system take a hard look at the Olympus & Panasonic Micro Four-Thirds cameras. I rocked a canon 30D & 40D setup for years and loved it, but it just got too bulky and heavy and cumbersome. I switched over to an Olympus OM-D E-M1 and OM-D E-M5MkII setup and it's been so gratifying. I am way more likely to bring the camera and lenses with me out and about to shoot for fun.

I shoot real estate professionally and there is no loss of IQ there. Only place the M43 setups are inferior to DSLR's are for focusing on fast-moving objects. So if you shoot a lot of sports or birds in flight, it's not for you. Or if you need like 36 megapixels. For everything else, M43 rocks!

I'd agree and disagree. The OM-D is by all accounts an awesome camera with great IQ. With that being said, there are benefits to the lens ecosystems available to DSLR users vs the newer mirrorless systems. If you don't need a high amount of light gathering ability / fast lenses, it's not as big of a deal. If you have to shoot anything in low light, or need to blow out the background, full frame DSLRs still have an advantage. That being said, the size advantage of a m43 is awesome.

Sorry for taking this thread way off topic lol!

My girls.

On the right is Daisy, a Pug/Boxer mix. 30lbs.

On the left is Josey. Not sure what she is though the kennel says Manchester mix. 35 lbs.

Both are rescues. We've had Daisy since last December. We picked up Josey yesterday for a 1 week trial but it looks like we'll be keeping her. These guys are bff's already.

I took it off topic first cause they were talking about camera gear

The shallow depth of field advantage in order to 'bokeh' out the backgrounds is just 1 stop with APS-C cameras and 2 stops with full frame. I thought I might miss that but a 60mm f 2.8 lens on an OM-D has such shallow depth of field that I don't miss it at all. A great time for shallow DOF is for portraits (which I don't shoot). A 60mm micro 4/3 lens is the equivalent of a 120mm full frame camera lens - perfect for portraits. At f 2.8 you should be good to go. Tons of bokeh, razor thin DOF. There are plenty of m 4/3 f2.8 lenses, and some f2.0 and f1.8 ones as well for shallow DOF.

Nothing wrong with saying "mutt". The best dogs are just that. Wish I had a dog. But I love big dogs. Living in an apartment is great for low maintenance, but not really fair to a large dog.

Love your pics, but I just don't allow my kitties on tables or countertops. As for the boxes, I see that a lot of cats love to sit in boxes. Mine just won't do it. They all have different personalities and that's why I love them uniquely.

Yeah my last cat loved shoeboxes. He could just fit, he was a big boy, but would go for his box all the time. But yep, cats have great personalities. They are special little furry bastards.

How would you not allow kittahs on high places ?

It's their natural inclination, do you lock them up in a closet when you go to work ?

If they want to get "high" I have a cat tree that is all theirs. They don't seem to mind. They've been told enough that generally they don't get on countertops and tables. I don't understand why others let them. They've also got the bed and the couch. And yes, I'm a big meanie.

What ever works for you I guess.

Your cats might have some hidden anger issues

I have a few anger issues about pets myself, like Dogfood, cough, I mean Pistol.

That is a whole bigger issue between my wife and myself I do not even bother with discussing on the forums.

Believe it or not, both cats follow me from room to room and get depressed if I'm gone for too long. My wife is there to feed them if necessary. Poor wifey. She insisted we keep the son while I hated him. Then he bonded to me and I couldn't imagine life without him. And here I grew up a dog person! But seriously, I can't stand litterbox feet on my eating surfaces. Just don't think that cat's should be allowed up there. I realize that in this big world other people have their own opinions on that.

We always just clean the food prep area before we cook anyways and use cutting boards, we'd clean it even without cats.

Toby does seem to have a 6th sense whenever we get chicken out, he can smell that a mile away almost instantly it seems.

One of the wifes names for him is "The Chickenhawk."

We ban him to the Florida Room sometimes and shut the doors in prep time there.

2 rat dogs nowadays...

Jack, the yorkie-looking one (half chihuahua/half yorkie...aka chiwookie) is 10, Rocky (the other one...duh) came to us as a rescue. He was SUPPOSED to be pure-blooded long hair chihuahua, but we're pretty sure he has some pomeranian in his blood line somewhere. He's almost 13.

I had to put my cat down last September...(and I bawled like a little girl) She came to us at 2 days old when her feral cat mom was killed by a car...she lived about a month past her 19th birthday.

(shortly after she died, that coffee cup broke...the handle just fell off in the cupboard...it was 20 years old)
