You realize your "nothing special" is probably a pretty sweet camera to us normal people. Better than my Nikon superzoom. Wish I had a better camera. My next project is a badass home server. My computer hobby takes precedence over my camera hobby.
when you look to go to an interchangeable lens system take a hard look at the Olympus & Panasonic Micro Four-Thirds cameras. I rocked a canon 30D & 40D setup for years and loved it, but it just got too bulky and heavy and cumbersome. I switched over to an Olympus OM-D E-M1 and OM-D E-M5MkII setup and it's been so gratifying. I am way more likely to bring the camera and lenses with me out and about to shoot for fun.
I shoot real estate professionally and there is no loss of IQ there. Only place the M43 setups are inferior to DSLR's are for focusing on fast-moving objects. So if you shoot a lot of sports or birds in flight, it's not for you. Or if you need like 36 megapixels. For everything else, M43 rocks!
Here's a pic of the two together. It's from 2006 right after I found them...
The girl's names are Frankie, Frankenstein, Kitten Chops, and/or Pudgie. The boy's names are Junior, June June, Junebug, and/or Asshole
our cats have multiple names, but the alternate names are shithead, asshole, potato, welfare queen, and "omfg, how did you just bite my foot through the comforter!?!"Someone else who's cats have multiple names
Someone else who's cats have multiple names
I'd agree and disagree. The OM-D is by all accounts an awesome camera with great IQ. With that being said, there are benefits to the lens ecosystems available to DSLR users vs the newer mirrorless systems. If you don't need a high amount of light gathering ability / fast lenses, it's not as big of a deal. If you have to shoot anything in low light, or need to blow out the background, full frame DSLRs still have an advantage. That being said, the size advantage of a m43 is awesome.
Sorry for taking this thread way off topic lol!
My girls.
On the right is Daisy, a Pug/Boxer mix. 30lbs.
On the left is Josey. Not sure what she is though the kennel says Manchester mix. 35 lbs.
Both are rescues. We've had Daisy since last December. We picked up Josey yesterday for a 1 week trial but it looks like we'll be keeping her. These guys are bff's already.

Love your pics, but I just don't allow my kitties on tables or countertops. As for the boxes, I see that a lot of cats love to sit in boxes. Mine just won't do it. They all have different personalities and that's why I love them uniquely.

How would you not allow kittahs on high places ?
It's their natural inclination, do you lock them up in a closet when you go to work ?
If they want to get "high" I have a cat tree that is all theirs. They don't seem to mind. They've been told enough that generally they don't get on countertops and tables. I don't understand why others let them. They've also got the bed and the couch. And yes, I'm a big meanie.
What ever works for you I guess.
Your cats might have some hidden anger issues
Believe it or not, both cats follow me from room to room and get depressed if I'm gone for too long. My wife is there to feed them if necessary. Poor wifey. She insisted we keep the son while I hated him. Then he bonded to me and I couldn't imagine life without him. And here I grew up a dog person! But seriously, I can't stand litterbox feet on my eating surfaces. Just don't think that cat's should be allowed up there. I realize that in this big world other people have their own opinions on that.
