Necro?

Didn't want to post a duplicate thread.

Got this little critter yesterday. Despite how he looks, he's super sweet and affectionate. Scary smart, too.

We've named him Oskar.

Is that a species from this planet? Cross between a lizard and an armadillo maybe?

Sphynx. Natural mutation that became a breed. The Devon Rex is another similar breed but their mutation grows only the downy coat instead of the full coat. Both are very similar in temperament.

Sphynxes in general tend to be very smart and more doglike than other cats. My little guy, on the first day he was home, already knows to come when called, can communicate his intentions and desires like in how to get our attention for when he wants to be put up on the counter top to be fed (training him to eat off the floor because we get two rescue pit mix puppies in about... oh, an hour), has a favorite color (green toys he always go for first) and is just generally very scheming and deliberate. He's unlike any breed of cat I've had or met. They also tend to be MUCH more social and clingy/affectionate around other people and animals whereas most cats can be generally independent and indifferent. They bond incredibly strongly to their closest companions.

Awwww.... ugly hairless kitty! So uglycute!

Yeah. They're not fluffy cute. But they are pretty cute. In a way. Easily the sweetest breed I've ever known.

Even though they -are- technically hairless, sometimes their skin has a super fine coat of nearly invisible fuzz. Super smooth. My guy kinda feels like velvet in a way.

crap ton of other pictures of animals too, many of them since babies. We've had a few pass on as well unfortunately, which is one of the bad things about pets is they eventually do pass on.

3 (rescue) dogs:

1. Black lab mix (appears to have some rottweiler). Super sweet female.

2. Red Hound, aka a my excellent compatriot dog.

3. Rat terrier.

My Jack Russell watches TV, and I mean watches it intently.
Today I was watching Jurassic World, and at the climactic end when the T-rex and the hybrid are fighting and the whale Dino comes up and grabs the hybrid, he jumps down off my lap, clearly distraught, and give me this sad look. It was absolutely " please turn if off dad it scares me", with his back to the action. He has the same reaction when the big cats are taking down game on the Serengeti.
Now I can't watch these action films with him in the room.
He also is able to discriminate between CGI dogs and real dogs, but apparently he got into these CGI creatures too well.
He won't even get off the couch for the typical commercial CGI dog, but goes to talk to all the real dogs and cats. He also knows when a dog is going to appear in a commercial he has seen before.

annnnd then there were three.

Oskar has two new brothers. We got them in last night, rescued from a kill shelter in NorCal. Despite being only 8 weeks old, they had two days to go before being picked up by a bully program. They're both incredibly sweet.

Brindle one's Rory and a bit of a rascal. Black/Super Dark Brown one is Oliver and more of a chill observer.

Both pit mixes but not sure what they're mixed with. We were told Boxer, but we're thinking more likely to be short black lab/english lab mixes. We're going to get them breed tested when they go to the vet to find out for sure.

Oskar (the wrinkly sphynx I posted above) isn't too thrilled with them. He did a scowling, growling walk around their kennel when they were put in for a nap. But we're doing slow introductions and they'll be cuddling soon enough.

My new cat carries her toys around also such as her mouse toy or her plastic balls with small bells inside them that she loves to play with because of the noise.

My boy actually plays fetch. He'll put the his ball near me and then rub into me and meow to signal that he wants me to throw the ball. I throw it out of the room and down the hall and he goes galloping off after the ball. That pic is of him bringing the ball back.

I used to have a girl that would do that. She loved super balls, and it was hilarious watching her try to catch one.

Pretty likely that the black one has some lab in him. I've had several lab puppies and he's got the look. Totally adorable.
