Galaxy S8, because it was free and I have unlimited free everything to go with it. Debating on upgrading to a S10 or waiting for the 11 to do another upgrade.

Nexus 5X because it does call and texts, and some other stuff if I ever need that, was $200 (so like, half off at the time) when trying Project Fi for a month.

It sucks now (data-over USB has shut itself off and none of the common remedies work), and Project Fi is completely janky.

S8+ Edge. Works great so far and no real complaints. Honestly though, I'm most likely switching back to iOS. Haven't had an iphone since the very first 1 but everyone in my family has some kind of iphone so it'd just be easier to do stuff like facetime and share stuff. At least that's what I've heard.

Samsung J7 Star. Got it from my son as a birthday gift to replace a galaxy on5. The on5 was a POS, really slow and horrible connectivity. The J7, although the specs are not great, is worlds better. Only complaints are the camera is mediocre, and Android Oreo, at least in the Samsung phone, doesn't play well with Android Auto.

I have an iPhone 7 right now, but debating switching to Galaxy S10 or Pixel 3, but based on responses here, might be best to stick with iPhone

Would like to break from the Apple ecosystem, but they are able to keep you trapped for a reason... the biggest thing I don't like are their hardware / software practices of trying to restrict you from repairing your own stuff. But I haven't needed a repair yet, so hard to feel bitter.

Maybe a question for another thread, but anyone know if my music library on Play can be transferred to itunes? or if there's a play app for iOS?

Drop your phone out of an office window and say it fell, which is technically correct.

I think three of the four get the Apple ax next year.

S9+ because 6 GB RAM and a large screen.
Twice in the last 24hrs:
I was in one app, tapped the multitasking softkey twice so I could see or copy something from the last app, tapped it twice to return to my app that I only left seconds earlier, and had the app reload and lose everything I was doing. Grrrrrr... It's like they forgot what "multitasking" even means.

One of those times I lost the FB post I was composing just because I dared to spend 5 seconds grabbing a link that I already had handy in the other app. The other time I was seconds away from the ending of an eBay listing and I needed to see the calculator results really quickly before submitting my bid.

No idea why my phone with 6GB of RAM is so aggressively unloading apps, but seriously: WTF?! I ditched my iPhone precisely for that reason (iOS aggressively unloading apps due to limited RAM). Something tells me that the 8GB RAM Note9 variant wouldn't have fared any better because this is more about looking good with battery performance now.

S9+. Really fast and functional.

I will admit that my wife's 10XS is much better at night pics. My concert pics of a stage blow chunks vs. her iPhone, but I HATE the iPhone's forced sandbox.

LG G6, was able to get one basically new for $200 after my LG G3 died after a few years of faithful service, and up until then my G3 had treated me very well.

Moto G6 because it was $150.

In my world phones aren't an entertainment device, they aren't a fashion accessory, and they're not a status symbol.
Brand new Moto x4 (considered just slightly better overall than your G6*) for $120, and bought for the exact same reasons you bought yours.

*The Moto X4 appears to have slightly better hardware, with higher-end performance, a more capable camera system, and vastly superior water resistance. But, it's also 40% more expensive.[Except mine was 20% cheaper.]

Visually, the Moto G6 is even more stunning than the X4. And, though it falls short of the X4 in performance, it should hold up for most daily activities just fine. What sells it is the lower cost and bigger [and higher def] screen. Motorola does a phenomenal job packing desirable features into a solidly budget phone.

So, if performance and protection are what you're after and you can spare the money, the Moto X4 will likely be the right choice.

^^^ i know all this in detail only because I was trying to choose between the G6/G7power/x4 just recently. But when Amazon had new x4s for $120, I chose to forego the bigger, better screen. The actual performance differences are probably real life minimal. One bonus is that the x4 has a radio.

iPhone 7. I had an iPhone before and I liked it so when it broke, I looked for another. Found this one used for $260 a year ago and it still works just fine.

That's a pretty great buy. Generally when I need a new phone it's because mine was smashed beyond any possibility of repair. I can't go 2 days without a phone, so I end up getting whatever amazon can get to me within a day. Motorola is tough to beat for price vs features, and amazon has them unlocked and ready to ship, so that's what I end up with. One of those rare times when the only choice isn't a bad one.
btw, the G6 has an fm radio, though I've never tried to use it. To be more accurate, there is a radio app factory installed on the phone, I can't confirm that it actually does anything.

Well agreed.

Lol, pretty much the same here. The couple times I clicked on the app/feature, it said it uses the wires in your headphones for an antenna. I do still have two or three (maybe four) sets of wired headphones, but God only knows where. So . . . no radio for me!

But I just kind of like that, in contrast to most other brands (as far as I know) they still offer this feature. Old school!

Motorola was a great, technically pioneering American company, starting with car radios in the 30s. They pioneered the very first mobile phone with the DynaTac, and went on to make some of the best small cell phones as we now know them (not huge bricks) with the MicroTac, then the StarTac, the Razr and the Droid.

True story: As a PI, a guy I was tailing in NYC in the 90s dropped his StarTac from his motorcycle as he sped away from a light, and I recovered it. He never noticed. It was one of the first clamshell cell phones, maybe the first.

Motorola's phone division is now owned by Lenovo, the same Chinese company that bought another great division of a great American company, the Thinkpad laptop division of IBM. High end corporate guys always got Thinkpads. They were just built better.

With both purchases, the Chinese do seem to have understood what they have, and have seemed to more or less maintained an admirable level of quality.[/QUOTE]

I had all 3 of these phones!

Can recall having several versions of Star-Tac given to me by SNET to "apologize" for my phone numbers being cloned to the tune of over $20k! Never even used the last one wish I still had it!
