ok so my 2 years are up, and its new phone time, im staying with verizon because 1) free new phone, 2) i dont have any issues with them and their coverage is good

now i really dont need a phone that does anything more then make and receive calls and has voice mail, however seeing as its free i might as well get the best one i can because of the regardless of weather or not i use all its features

so
these i Can get for free when i renew my plan

Motorola V276
Motorola V710
Motorola E815
UTStarcom/ Audiovox CDM8940
Samsung SCH-a670
Kyocera KX2

These ones cost money, tho not very much

LG VX7000 (Black) - 29.99
LG VX8000 - 29.99
LG VX8100 - 49.99
Samsung SCH-a890 - 69.99

now i know nothing about these other then what i read on the verizon website and I know a bunch of you know an assload about cellphones, so advise me please

id like to keep it totally free however if one of the others is THAT much better then i might as well

I was a motorola fan until the v60. Had really bad luck with that model. When my 2 years was up, I opted for the Samsung a670 and have had no problems. Decent battery life, good reception, no complaints. Plus, get a data cable and hook it up to your laptop for some free internet (only use minutes)

I was thinking bout v710 just for the bluetooth, but I just don't trust motorola anymore...

I mean to choose the E815 instead of the V710, sorry. I have the SCH-a670, and it's a good phone, but it doesn't do mp3 ringtones. Since it's free, go for the gold: get the E810.

The E815 is actually decent for a motorola that is. Verizon phones suck. Unfortunately I have Verizon

I have the UTStarcom/ Audiovox CDM8940 ...

the graphics are really nice, the camera takes awesome pics and videos. the evo graphics are incredible. the downsides is that it comes with stupid wallpapers, tones and etc.

Voted for the E815 but hopefully it'll be better than my POS Samsung one; which had poor reception, which I'll be getting on Monday or Tuesday. I also like the E815 since it had larger buttons and I wouldn't have to use a tooth pick to dial a number, etc.

The only place I have ever had an issue with reception is in my own house. But so does everyone else who comes here. House is a dead zone. I have been from NJ to TN/KY are with it and never had a problem no matter where I have been.

Samsung A310, for me the reception on it was medicore. For example, I had a Nokia phone before, don't remember the model number but it seemed to be a popular phone 5-6 years ago; but when I worked at Motorola SPS I could put the Nokia phone in my locker and 12 hours later still have battery life to it. When I got the Samsung and put it in my locker at 6 AM I would have a dead battery by 11 AM when I go to lunch.

Another example is when at home, the Samsung will lose signal it's signal, even with the antenna extended, and battery will die.

Took me a week or two but I figured that the phone would switch to analog and that is what drained the battery a lot faster.

Add to the fact that my friend has a different model Samsung and gets very poor receptioin in her house, Cingular service I think.. Both of us live in the city and I would doubt that I could blame Verizon but then again, never know if they are to blame

When I get my E815 I'll know more for sure.

Edit: I think my friend is on Cingular not Verizon (doh?)

Since you live in MASS, get the E815, that entire place is a bloody cell phone tower.

If you lived any where else I'd say V710 for Analog.

I have a Motorola E815 and I'm plenty happy with it, so that's what I voted for.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem as sturdy as my old Toshiba CDM9500, but I'm really not aware of any phones that are.

You might want to do some research at howardforums and phonescoop. Also, I've heard bad things about the Motorola V276, and I believe the LG VX7000 is supposed to have pretty poor reception.
