The biggest problem I have had was with my Intellimouse Explorer. I just RMA'ed it and got a new, and better one though. So in the end, I'm glad it failed. =)
VIA chipsets... mainly the KT-133 but the KT-266 is not that better.
The only other thing that bugs me ocasionally is the broken CPU retention mechanism on my slot 1 board... Verry often I get to LAN parties and have to open up the case to put the slocket with my heavy Alpha cooler back in it's place (doesn't completely come off it just gets loose since it is so heavy)
Hmmm no problems over the last 2 years I only had a faulty T-bird that drove me mad and was hard to trace the problem anyway it got replaced and was fine then.
Without a doubt, bastage ABIT motherboards. I have had four of those d@mn things die on me in the past year. A KA7, BH6, BE6, and a BF6. :| I will NEVER buy another one, NEVER.:disgust: Then again, my first motherboard, the BP6 ran great for two years
<< Also asus a7v / a7vpro - why oh why did they put the memory trace under the ziff socket ? >>
You beat me to it!
Join the f'kin club, Asus suck, the A7V gave me months of torment, I am so glad it's gone.
First 2 DOA then scratched the traces ptting a HSF on the 3rd several months later.
Nothing has even come close to the pain caused by the Asus RMA7V.
Also, the tiny little cable provided to SLI-together 2 voodoo 2's, could it BE any smaller!? Voodoo 2's sitting 1/2 inch from each other not a good idea considering the heat they gave off. One of mine died, guaranteed it was the heat.
How about the 3 month old Western Digital 7200 RPM 80 G hard drive that died last week. It had 51,000 Tiff files on it!! They were backed up to a server. I don't trust these new/huge hard drives!!!! R.
hercules gf3 pain in the butt big time turned out to be a fake one ( 300 quid down ) the suppier has put a gagging order on me about this matter BIG HEADACHE
Either VIA KT133A chipset motherboards with SBLive! (since I built so many based on that chipset and the people that owned it went to upgrade their sound cards at compusa or some store like that) or my personal quantum hdd which ahs been RMA'd 3 times in 1 year but at least they upgarded the size because they don't make a model that small anymore.... just hard to lose good data 3 times in 1 year.
If a sliver of silicon in a ceramic package could deserve a nice warm spot in hell, that chip would be it. >>
SAme here, though, thats the BEST way of putting it i have ever seen...My BE6-2 had such potential, all ruined by a crappy 366, ( i knew the 8-ide dream was too good to be true)
Oh ya that POS HPT366 sucks a$$... my 420MB WD boot drive from my old gateway 486dx2 66 system (use it for dual boot partition with ntloader and otehr crappy dos files) benchmaarks 2x's faster than my new 7200rpm ata66 WD 20GB drive ont eh HPT366... therefore the drive is only good for mp3 storage and read mp3 file activity
It took me around a month to figure out what was wrong with my ECS-K7S5A.
MS intelimouse Optical broke down in about a year and a 1/2.
Powerman 235w PSU burned out in about 5 years cause i didnt realized the fan died.
