I've got a handful of smaller things - nothing big since I don't really buy large electronics purchases anymore.
- Surface Pro wireless display adaptor
- Plantronics DSP headphones (used for years in my gaming days, now just sit collecting dust but I don't want to toss them)
- High end point & shoot camera (received as a gift but have probably taken less than 100 photos over a couple years)
- Various stereo equipment (I have a set of surrounds I've never even hooked up, I have an entire 600W sub amp sitting in a box)

Non-technology stuff - I have about $1500 sunk into garage gym equipment that I never use because my normal gym is so close and has more space and equipment. Trying to sell some of it now. I have probably close to $1000 sunk into wine that I barely drink, my GF and I just don't drink as much as we used to. I have about $1500 in tools that barely get used since I don't have the time or the space for projects.

Chromecast dongle. We have native Chromecast with our TV running AndroidTV which is fantastic -- the TV automatically jumps to casting without any intervention. The standalone Chromecast just feels...clunky. Maybe it's the TV it's on, but I don't want to switch inputs every time I want to cast something.
I don't use my standalone Chromecast much (mostly when I want to share photos with a crowd such as graduation photos at the post-ceremony graduation party, or vacation shots carefully pared, etc). But, my TV automatically switches inputs whenever I start casting. Maybe you just had a TV that didn't want to play along.

HP 12c Platinum financial calculator; I bought it for a class but have used it about once a year since. It is the newer model without the good keys.

I have 2 Go Pro cameras that I don't use, also I rarely use my iPad anymore. I also got the gear 360 camera when I got my Note 8 and have not even tried that out yet.

PS4 Pro. Took me 4 months to even bother opening it. Played through like 25% of Horizon Zero Dawn. Haven't touched it for months since.

I almost tossed my chromecast after a year of no use until my wife wanted to start de-cabling everything we could. Now I cast almost every other day for her.

I bought a Nook and never used it. I also bought a Thrustmaster Tflight thinking I would use it and never did. Come to think of it I've bought a lot of bs tech over the years that I've never really used. Kind of sad really but I'm a sucker for these things so I'm ok with it.

I absolutely love my Kindle. The only problem I have with it is that I feel it's a bit of a deal with the devil like Steam - it's fine now, but what happens when the platform is no longer supported? Will they let us convert these things to PDF?

Edit: Well, I have two problems. The other is that for some reason technical material is almost never available on the eInk versions and I have zero desire for a non-eInk reader.

That's the biggest problem. We still value these things. I only paid $29 for the Kindle on some crazy flash sale, and there's no way I'll still part with it. It's too useful, I just can't find myself to utilize it.

You're right. The joy of buying something is nothing compared to the sorrow of losing it, hence why we're so reluctant to get rid of crap we never use. Hell, I have an old diassembled Core 2 Duo gaming PC from 2007 that I'm keeping around "just in case" I decide to use the parts for something.

Camcorder. Bought a Canon several years back and never used it. The software that it came with was dated and wouldn't work with Windows 7. This was an HD camcorder and I was shocked by not only didn't the 32-bit software not work in Windows Vista/7 but Canon left people hanging with zero means of getting Windows Vista/7 friendly Canon software at no cost. Being that my DSLRs could take video in a more agnostic manner, I stuck with that and the camcorder has been sitting on my wife's desk for years collecting dust.

I think you're looking for HDMI-CEC enabled. https://www.howtogeek.com/207186/how-to-enable-hdmi-cec-on-your-tv-and-why-you-should/

Our Toshiba 49 and Samsung 50/65 tvs turn on, and flip over to its source when casting.

Samsung wireless charger
Using the wireless charger heats up the phone more than I prefer.
I keep phones for a while and heat degrades batteries

Same. I tried to go paperless awhile ago. Paperless for stuff like snailmail is great (scan & shred), but for books, not so much. Paper is still superior for reading novels imo. I thought about trying out the new Kindle Oasis, but...meh.

I find that ebooks are as good as paper books for reading long-form stuff like novels, but as far as cookbooks go, I'd rather have a physical cookbook and thumb through it vs sticking a laptop or tablet on the kitchen counter, or printing recipes out to follow instead. I guess we all have our idiosyncrasies when it comes to this stuff.

Hah, I'm the opposite - I like paper for novels, but I have all of my recipes stored in Google Docs now & pull them up on a tablet in the kitchen. Although I do like good cookbooks with color pictures...my last three were The Food Lab, Bravetart, and Demolition Desserts and they are fun to thumb through
