Currently I have an Antec NeoHE 500W power supply ubt I am unsure whether it can support an 8800GTS as well as an overclocked e6300. Does anyone have any idea?

Any websites directing me towards power consumption of an 8800gts per day would also be helpful.

Take a look at the comp specs in my sig...all running on a OCZ 420w PSU. Oh and add 2 SATA HDDs to that list also. No hiccups so far. No BSODs, lockups, crashes...nothing.

Nice, I guess that answers my question then lol.

How efficient is that Powerstream 420 anyways?

They typically hover just below 80% efficiency. They are very solid PSU.

You should be just fine with a 500 Watt. This power usage stuff is a lot of hype with little realy solid information.

Haha, that is almost identical to what I'm running, aside from the 8800GTS which hasn't arrived yet!

NeoHE is pretty good compared to el cheapo stuff. You should be fine. But personally I would take a PSU which has enough spare juice in 12VA line even after everything is connected. Calculate how much you need on 12V lines, if it is under 30 or atmost 35A under full load, only then should you buy this PSU.

500 is plenty, as far as PSUs go, i would focus on quality over quantity, your Antec should be fine.

Hello, first time poster.

There's a PNY 8800GTS 320MB for sale at Buy.com for $229 that I'd like to get. Before I do however, I'm not sure if my power supply will work.

My PSU is a Rosewill RP550-2. Specs are:
Maximum power of 550W
Input Voltage 115/230 V
Input Frequency Range 50/60 Hz
Input Current 12A @ 115AC, 6A @ 230AC
Output +3.3V@30A, +5V@50A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@18A, -12V@1A, +5VSB@2.5A

On the PNY website, it says under minimum system requirements: A minimum 400W system power supply (with 12V current rating of 26A)

I'm not sure if my PSU has a 12V current rating of 26A. From the looks of it, it may not. Hopefully it can work. Anyone know for sure according to the PSU specs? Thanks!

That NeoHE is a triple rail PSU, the 550watt model is certified for all Crossfire systems and SLI up to the 7900GT. A single 8800GTS will be fine on the 500-watt model.

Yeah ur power supply should work. u have two 12V's so u add them. 18+18=36A. more than enough for an 8800 gts.

The Neo HE 500 watt will be more then sufficient to power a single 8800GTS or even a GTX & they along with the Earth-watt plus True-Power models are made by Seasonic
