What power Supply to get??

Well i picked up the Silencer 750 that should do the trick to power all my component (i hope lol)

The Silencer uses the extra hight that would otherwise be taken up with a 120mm to increase the size/area of the heatsink which requires less airflow. A low wattage PSU with 120mm is fine and quieter than a 80mm but above 500w the larger heatsink/components are a must.

After my 620HX I would never consider buying a 120mm PSU design for a high end quad core / dual graphics setup. I am very impressed how the Silencer handles the load and never thought about owning a 80mm after my generic iCute 430w leaf blower.

Between idle and load I cannot hear any change in the noise with the Silencer 750w while at idle it is LOUDER than the Corsair 620HX while during load it is much quieter.

I have wondered if the 120mm fans are that effective. Seems like with more dust they may not blow hard enough to remove the dust from the cooling fins. However, when taking apart computers I see all kinds of problems with dust collecting on the exhaust in the back of the power supply or where the air comes into the power supply. Slits or holes dont seem to work well.

Antec claims 80% efficiency on their earth watts line of power supplies. For the most part I find the average Antec Power supply to run cool and quiet. Even the low end Antecs seem to run cool and quiet.
