The scraping by on $100k thread got me thinking we need a living wage adjustment.

Definitely Pharmacists. At $300,000 a year, you can barely afford a boat.

How about pretty much all of them, seeing as inflation has continued (and affects everyone) while pretty much all wages have been flat for decades.

Research phd definitely. I was in that position once upon a time n life was very difficult. Eventually forced myself to quit n become a pharmacist. Life sucks even more now at least not financially. Employers get about 200-300k of work done in terms of immunizations n medication therapy management etc etc where no additional compensation is provided but employer makes money off those services

Dental hygienists. I was at the dentist the other day and any my hygienists told me that a lot of them work 40+ hours per week but most dental clinics only hire part-time hygienists so many work two hygienist jobs 20 hours per week so they don't get benefits.

Sadly, teachers are left off every bodies list. I guess making $35k after 4 years of college is sufficient? They must be making the bucks!

Please don't give me I know teachers that make $100k speech. It's bullshit. Yes, there are kindergarten teachers that make $100k a year, but they are in the minority.

Now this I can agree on. I do think there are pockets of teachers that get more than they should (as with any profession) but to go what they go through (bullshit like NCLB), they absolutely don't get paid enough.

This week was bulsh*t though. In NJ we had a teacher's convention in Atlantic City, and it's sponsored by the NJEA. NJ teachers have off Thursday and Friday, and going to the convention is optional. Nobody that i know goes to these things. It's basically a long paid weekend for NJ teachers. I have a teacher friend who flew down to New Orleans to party.

Teachers are paid adequately. Administrators are overpaid.

The problem teachers have isn't the pay, it's the lack of authority they are given in modern times.

That's true. Administrators where I live get paid $160k a year.

I am shocked and dismayed that lawyers aren't winning in a landslide.

We need more lawyers to properly work out the laws for a perfect society.

Most teachers start at around $40k, they only work 10 months a year, and receive pension benefits for the rest of their life (you have to factor that into their income). I would say most are fairly paid.

All the rest are overpaid. Oh and pharmacists can be replaced by computers.

OP's list is dumb, those are already some of the highest paid professions.

I would say customer service people. You ever wonder why you cannot get good service on the phone anywhere? CS people are always the lowest paid in the company but their responsible for handling a company's most valuable asset, their customers.

And janitors. They deserve more than $8 bucks an hour to clean up other people's filth.

Pharmacists barely make $100k, which after 12 years of college, that's a fair salary. No pharmacists are bringing in $300k.

Wife is a 7th year teacher with a master's degree making right around the average 4 year college graduate starting salary. Her pay is based on a 1400 hour year, but she probably works closer to 1800-1900. She has decent insurance and a pension plan. I think the pay is "meh" and she appreciates having ~8 weeks off for summer (minus continuing education and various camps), but I think she should make more. The issue is that pay for teachers, at least around here, is entirely homogenized. You get $x per year based entirely on your degree level and years of service, assuming the years of service increases are funded each year (they haven't been for 5 of the last 7 years). There is no incentive to be an awesome teacher, other than personal satisfaction. There is no job growth, no room for promotions and raises, etc. You're basically on a 30+ year cost of living bump schedule, if it's funded.
