What projects need some power?

I have a few computers that I want to put on projects other than SoB and SETI. Do we have any projects that we are either close to moving up, but just need that little extra push, or that we are locked in a heated battle with another team?

This is the deal with the projects:
1. Must run as a service with no interaction with the desktop. Students are curious and start messing with anything that shows up that they haven't seen before.
2. Needs run through a queue on my network if possible so I can run the traffic outside of my network through a single computer.
3. I like stats, so if the project has good stats, that is a bonus.

So, let me know where these computers are needed and that is where they will go.

For the SoB and SETI folks:

SoB: I put another 6 Computers (3 on each queue, PeterN knows what I am talking about) into production today. I think that puts me over 30 computers total on SoB(work, home, everywhere). Another 30 (15 and 15, I think) to go on this week if I can get some time to do it.

SETI: I have 8 computers to set up for you next week. After that, we will see. I am sure I can at least get 2 more so I have at least 10 computers on SETI.

Do we have an active RC5 team? That is the project I started on and will probably start putting some computers on that too.

EDIT:
CURRENT LIST:
SoB
SETI
Enigma

As we told earlier in PM, but now in the open I think the Enigma project could use your help. Our TA-guys are already the biggest producing team right now, but it will take them about two-three months to take the #1 spot at this pace. If you can speed them up a bit, then there is a chance they can be #1 before the project is over (when the messages are decyphered).

I sure do, nice to know something others don't.
I read somewhere there are some batch files to speed up the install procedure. Will see if I can find them and then send them to you (or at least the url )

We still have an RC5 team. Here is the link.
The TA-participants are overhere.

I don't know what the interest is in RC5 atm. There was an incident in the past, that caused a lot of TA-members to abandon Distributed.net and run off to other projects, like Seti.
What the issue was, I can't remember, but someone else can fill you in here I'm sure.

RE: rc5 team

the prize money is no longer there per the website:

It is with great sadness that we must announce that RSA Labs has
decided to terminate the RSA Secret-Key Challenge, which impacts the
RC5-72 project and all of the remaining RC5 challenges. This means
that RSA Labs will not confirm any solutions or award any additional
prizes, should a correct solution be found. Furthermore, we have
received a statement indicating that they will not be disclosing the
solutions to the unsolved challenges.

RC5-72 progress was going REALLY slow anyway... pretty much pointless IMHO.

That's pretty disappointing about RC5. I guess that one is gone from the list.

Cool! & thanks for joining us there too

Yea sad about RC5 ,but the 64 project pretty much proved its point.
But interesting to see some people are still crunching ,I thought it was totally dead!

Won't they even say if someone finds the key for RC5 72?

What is the point of running a server for the project if they aren't going to do that.?

Distributed.net is still running the OGR (Optimal Golomb Ruler) project. That is where the most power of their members is going to atm.
OGR is some mathematical project.

I think they are keeping all the machinery up for that one and hope the RC5-72 people are going to step over to the OGR thingy.

Exactly! ,but yet it's still running
You'd think that they could at least tell someone if they found the right key ,afterall it isnt going to cost them anything more.

OK, I am having some BOINC issues here at work. I can't get it to connect to any project. I will get it working, though. I must.

12/14/2007 2:15:25 PM||Access to reference site failed - check network connection or proxy configuration.

EDIT:

When I try to connect, I will also get his message in a pop up box:
"BOINC couldn't do Internet communication, and no default connection is selected.
Please connect to the Internet, or select a default connection using Advanced/Options/Connections.

I am having trouble getting it to connect through my proxy it looks like. I have tried both the http and socks proxies, nothing. It won't let me choose a default connection, there is nothing on that tab. I am looking throught the FAQs and scuh now to see if I am just missing something little.

I am pretty sure my connection to the outside world is working. Either it is working or I have some strange direct connection to the AT forums....

Nothing I tried worked.

I will give it another go Monday. Until then, I guess I just have to stick to SoB....

Are you using Proxy with Authentication? If so, there's been lots of problems getting this to work correctly...

If you haven't tried it, I would recommend you trying the latest dev-build, v5.10.30, that possibly has fixed the proxy-problem.
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php?dev=1

If this doesn't work, AFAIK one possible work-around is to run an extra proxy that doesn't needs BOINC to use authentication, and let this extra proxy authenticate against the normal proxy...

I will try that build.

In the mean time, I am going to finish the SoB work that my home computers are doing and switch them over to BOINC projects. Not much power at home, but at least it will help until I get some of the other computers going.
