What PSU can do STR?

I heard that in STR (suspend to ram)mode you can turn off all fans completely.
Do I need a special PSU to do this?
For example, enermax has FC models (fan control) where mobo can turn on/off the PSU fans. Is this what I need to do STR? Or any PSU can do this../

I don't know... I guess the Mobo controls the fans, but only if they are plugged into fan headers on it.

BTW: I almost fried my 1 Gig Athlon in standby mode with no fans on... so if you're on AMD's side better turn the thing off, or try it if you can RMA it.

well, in my system all fans stopped when I entered STR - and everything spun back up again when I tried to wake it up, but windows doesn't come back up. Linux doesn't have good enough ACPI support to test this If I do standby mode in windows, only the PSU fan stays on (but its the loudest fan in my system, so it defeats the purpose)

In STR, I think everything, I mean everything including CPU, HDD, gets turned off.. except some electricity flow into memory. I didn't think there is any danger to fry CPU in STR.. or maybe I'm wrong..

Which windows are you running CTho9305 ?

I'm no expert here, none of my own machines will actually do it.

Any atx2.03 psu should support it. STR is a big part of the reason for increased amperage being available on the 5vsb line. As I understand it, programs are held in memory using this power source, everything else is off. The fan header from the fc Enermax allows its exhaust fan to be off in other low power states as well.

The bios, operating system and all hardware must support it. Otherwise, it goes to sleep and won't wake up without clearing the cmos.

98SE. something went so badly that I got massive data loss / file corruption and reformatted I'll try it again as soon as I image my HD to CD again.

5 volt standby. It's the one output from an ATX PSU that stays on during soft-off. The power to the psu must be switched off for this to be zero volts.

Ok, I need to match the revision number of PSU and mobo.
But I can't find the revision number for the mobo I want, GA-7ZMMH
I even looked up its manual, and it did't show.
(It's.. PCI revision 2.2.. although I don't think that's the number I'm looking for.)
