Bought a HDD on Amazon from a third party seller. Read SMART data and the damn thing was used. So I return. Buy another from a different third party seller on Amazon and the SMART data reads same shit. It was used. So I had to return that. Meanwhile it's been a freaking month with no secondary drive to store and install my crap in.

Another purchase was from a third party seller on NewEgg for a Blu-ray burner that supported M-disk. It was an LG. Damn thing never worked and I wasted $20 on a 100GB Blu-ray disk that got turned into a coaster. I still didn't buy a new Blu-ray burner yet. I want this Pioneer, but NewEgg doesn't carry it anymore yet NewEgg on eBay does. Go figure.

Moral of the story. Don't buy from third party sellers.

i regret most of my purchases, because i tend to impulse buy most thing that "i like", and later i find it was not as advertised, or i didnt need it, or there was a better option. i do however rarely regret technology purchases, as i get informed before i buy anything that goes bleep. one piece of tech which i bought and was extremely expensive, and turned out to be garbage, was the Creative Nomad:

this thing was like five hundred bucks, and i was going to integrate it into my dj-mixing setup, before mp3 were a thing. great idea, right? totally worth the investment, right?

EVERY TIME you perform ANY function - select a song, play a song, pause a song, this f* thing goes BEEEEP!, so loud it completely saturates the line-in channel. absolutely useless. also consider this was the 90s, you needed to normalize your playlist if you wanted songs to have a vaguely similar level of loudness, which mean all your mp3 were already 3-4dB lower than they got recorded.

They age their Bourbon County Stout in Whiskey barrels, then once emptied, they age the barley wine in those same barrels. Its a pretty hard beer to find and The Bourbon county stout is my favorite beer, so I jumped at the chance when my sister-in-law found some in vegas .

I'm curious..you "ordered" some beer? like mail ordered? I live in Utah so we can only by beer at the liquor stores and can't have anything shipped here

ordered for store pickup.
barley wine is a seasonal item at my store.
thus they are sometimes in random locations.
much easier for my sanity to order, then goto the customer service desk and pickup.

stout in Whiskey barrels sounds delicious!

states do have different rules restricting your ability to order and ship alcohol--whether or not the state allows consumer alcohol sales to cross state lines.

I love stouts, but I've never really liked bourbon beers--I just don't like how it overtakes the malt and hops. I recently had a very good NC (WInston Salem) bourbon stout, a very strong one at that. It is good, but I like stouts too much to have their character replaced with bourbon flavor, heh.

I probably shouldn't have purchased this Surface Book. I love it, but I was going to use it for school and work, but now I've moved and changed jobs. I won't be taking classes for a while, and I can't use it for work any more. That's probably the biggest regret I've had, and it's not that bad. I usually don't make snap purchase decisions any more.

I waited for 3 years for MS to make a good tablet with a fixed hinge to function as a decent laptop. After 3 generations of surface tablets I finally jumped on a surface pro 3 because of a good deal at BB with coupons. Just a month or so later they announce the surface book, literally exactly what I've been waiting for.

I don't regret it as the SP3 was way cheaper than the surface book and I like it, but I was still kind of irked at the timing of it all.

Yeah, I'd like a surfacebook but I decided on the SP 4 at the time. Surface book was (is sitll?) rather expensive and, at the time of release and for some time, wasn't really ready for the market. Numerous bugs and issues with detaching the screen and various surfacebook-specific Win 10 functions.

I'm still happy with the SP4 and and don't regret not having the surfacebook.

Most recent was a sony smartwatch 3. I wanted to try android wear and it was a good cheap option that still had all the modern features I wanted. Not worth it. Barely used the "smart functions" and it was just another thing to charge every damn day. Sucked the battery on the phone faster too because of the constant bluetooth connection. Android wear is still in beta at best as far as I'm concerned. The activity trackers like garmins and fitbits are perfect for me IMO. Much better battery life and gives me just the smart functions I need.

Asus transformer mini (t102ha). It was only $400, so it's not the end of the world.

I really want to like it, but the pen input doesn't respond fast enough to write at normal speeds, and the Atom processor is too slow for google apps. The processor is supposed to be twice as fast as my old windows tablet, but it's absurd how inadequate it is for basic things now.

Barleywines are something of an acquired taste. I never really loved them, but could sip one every once in a while and enjoy it for what it was.

Consider hanging on to those bottles, maybe crack one open every once in a while, drink half, see if it doesn't grow on you. You might be surprised.

Bulk hookers. Sure, the price per pound comes out great, but some things you don't want to skimp.

Several really really awful video games from the days before demos, have not been burned since it became try before you buy.

No regrets on major purchases, those I research carefully.

A comforter.

I was in Kohl's early December, and they had a nice display of comforters in three or four different weights - 1, 2, 3, 4, with 1 being the lightest. Strange, but what I eventually found out was that just feeling the thickness of a blanket in a display tells you little. The 1 and 2 felt much the same, the 3 felt like it would be barely adequate for winter, but I sleep warm, so I bought it.

First night sleeping with it was like being under an electric blanket. It was -4 degrees F that night and I had to crack the window open to sleep. Holy hell, I didn't know a blanket could be that warm. Returned it.

My masticating juicer. After I realized how expensive and how much work it is to juice, and the fact that the ones that are actually healthy don't really taste that great, I kinda just stopped using it. That's pretty much what happens everytime someone buys a juicer, but I was hoping it would not happen to me. It did.

When I built my 24-bay file server I kinda had buyer's remorse, as that box cost me like 3-4 grand when all was said and done. Case alone was $1,500 then add all the parts, another $1,500 or so, then some drives for a new raid array etc...

But now that it's been running for several years I figure it kinda paid for itself. Had I went with something smaller I'd be looking at upgrading it again. I even have room for more drives, and I can eventually take out the smaller drives to put bigger ones. So it's very upgradeable in that sense.
