I always thought it meant dots per inch, or pixels per inch - as in a 400 dpi mouse will move 400 pixels on your screen within an inch. I've confirmed this with my Logitech MX518, setting it in 400 dpi yields that result. I've tested this on MS Paint since it shows your coordinates.
However, some mice like the Naga, Xai, or Deathadder do not yield that result. If MY understanding of dpi is correct, then I'll call it TRUE dpi. I've found out however that the Deathadder's 450 dpi = 400, 900 = 800, and 1800 = 1600 true dpi.
So can an expert help me clear the haze here?
