My favorite resolutions are 1280*1024, 1152*864, and 1024*768. I can't stand 1600*1200 because that resolution makes stuff too small for me to see things, especially in FPS games.
I like 4xAA and 8xAf And will also take 2xAA and 4xAF. This is on my 7800GT. It is a really great card and has been very good to me during the past 4 months that I had it. It truely is a Gamer's card who wants high end performance for <$300.

1680 x 1050 max AA and AF settings now. (OC'd X1900 XTX).
HL2 and Counter Strike, plus older games at 1920 x 1200.

On my 6800 Ultra Go I play 1680 x 1050 max AA and AF for HL2, CS:S, but 1280 x 800 2 x AA 4+ x AF for pretty much every other game. (sometimes less on the AA and AF etc, for example FEAr or COD2, depending on the level.)

I like to use my native resolution of 1680x1050. AA is nice too, but my video card (6800GT) is rapidly starting to fall behind at those settings. 1680x1050 with no AA is often fine, although to get playable frames I still have to drop FEAR down to 1280x800. One of these months I'll upgrade...when I have the money...

I like to play at 1600x1200 with atleast 4xAA and 8xAF and have Transparency AA on at Multisampling, if I could, I set it at supersampling, but with certain games only.

1600x1200 with 4xAA when possible. 4x AF at 1600x1200 is secondary.

Usually I try and game at native resolution (1280*1024) with 2AA and 8AF. However, lately I have had to step down a resolution to 1024*768 and/or disable shadows altogether (I don't mind no shadows in my games). First thing to go though is the shadows though, then resolution.

11x8 @ 85hz is the 'sweet spot' on my 19" CRT

occasionally i run the custom 12x9 @ 80hz

and have run 10x7@100hz for demanding games with older cards.

right now my x850xt plays FEAR at 11x8 with everything on and hi and max with even 4xAA/8xAF . . . older games use way more AA/AF

16x12 if possible

12x9 or 11x8 if it's not. I hate 1280x1024

I haven't spent enough time gaming since I did the latest wave of work on my rig, so I haven't really checked to see how much AA/AF I can push. Haven't tried OCing the X1900 yet either. I'm kind of waiting to see if ATT will get OC support for x1900.

1280x1024 on my Samsung 915N (native), previously i was 1024x768 and capable of 4xAA 8xAF for every game (save the newest)

so now i dont do AA, unless i can... 2x mostly... since im pushing almost double the pixels here

My CCC settings dictate 1600x1200 with 4x AA & 8x AF. I generally don't touch them. Even for FEAR i was able to leave them alone.

Why do some people hate 1280*1024? I love it. High resolution W/O the crushing weight of 1600*1200 and it covers about the whole screen. Unlike 1280*960 which leaves some black space and makes it feel so cramped.

for older games, i run on 1280x1024 no AA/AF.

for newer games, usually the max resolution i can play on.

btw, look at my sig (video card) to see why i play on the "max resolution".

Are you running a 5:4 flatpanel? I run a 4:3 CRT. 1280x1024 looks squashed on a CRT unless you narrow the display horizontally, which leads to the same problem you have with 1280x960 except along the other axis.

With my 2 7800GT's in SLI I can pretty much game on max settings.

Settings I use: 4xAA/16xAF and TRSS.

Pretty much every game, except maby COD2 and FEAR, but with those it's 4xAA/8xAF and no TRAA.

Oh, and always Gamma AA, since it's free with no performance hit.

Used to vary widely until I got my 7800GT.

Now its 1600x1200 for almost everything, with max details. My CRT goes up to 1920x1440 but a lot of games look weird at that res.

The exceptions are FEAR, Q4 and Battlefield 2. I find I can turn up the details if I drop the resolution to 1280x1024 or 960. I prefer higher framerates for shooters anyway.

As a general rule I up the resolution before turning on anti-aliasing, and I can never see any difference in the quality of anisotropic filtering past 2.
