What seemingly "important" things would you be fine with removing from the world?

What thing that (if given the choice) would you be happy to remove from the world, even though it is considered important? Or alternatively what do you think the world would be fine without (if said thing had never been invented?)

My answer is Non Renewable energy.

Interesting, why so?

People aren't meant to be governed by large organizations. That's how corruption gets entrenched. ~100 person units is a good number, and if your leader gets out of control, you remove him, and get another. Removal doesn't refer to elections, so that tends to keep people honest ;^)

lol, you can't have humans without music. Music is the byproduct of what makes us human.

There is actually nothing on this world I would really like to get rid of, you don't make the world better by limiting it, but rather by expanding it.

Very fair, I don't necessarily mean something you would actively like to get rid of, but rather something you think the world would be fine without.

The world wouldn't be fine though, we'd be a bleak and unhappy people. There'd be more tension, violence, etc. Music helps relax a large percentage of the world, hell, it's the closest that humans will get to something bigger. If you take away music, you have to take away all art.

They key here is the last part. You don't seem to realize how historically important music has been. It is NOT just another art form.

:hmm: I doubt it, music is the intersection of creativity and mathematics, no other art can really duplicate its effects. It's natural for humans to try to organize sounds into pleasing arrangements, it's interesting how mathematical they are. Music is the window to the collective psyche of a species. If aliens showed up tomorrow, the first thing I'd do is listen to their music.
