Sorry this thread wasn't meant to be about music, I just thought that I'd be fine without something that other people consider important and wondered what other people would do without..

You should know by now that if you do an original post about music it's going to get commented on. And you also know what people are going to say. And you know you're going to respond to it.

It's a legitimate question for ATOT and could lead to an interesting discussion had you picked something else. Music for you was a known antagonistic topic.

What ELSE would you be fine with removing from the world, that you HAVEN't already discussed at length here

Sorry for responding to it, if I was a fish I'd be on a wall, not in the sea.

Good point, my second answer would probably be windows, but that would be opening a can of worms, then religion, also a problematic topic, then firearms. ah heck i'm controversial (for this forum at least) then.... charging for art (does result in an argument believe it or not) then... Eating meat (may cause problems) then... Mental health conditions!!!! <--- No arguments to be had there, i'll pop it in the OP.

Edit: thinking about it that's not an "Important" thing, if that were the answer then I may aswell put cancer. How about non-renewable energy. I'll pop that in the OP.

I'll understand windows as in glass panes; interesting, many in the developed world would have to certainly make a lifestyle change. I'd probably dump almost all television shows, only watched a couple series as a kid and don't have cable, satalite, or even a regular OTA antenna now.

Nope I meant Microsoft Windows.

Fair enough, TV isn't for everyone.

TV? But then where would I learn about Sham Wow, Charlie Sheen and Paris Hilton? Oh, wait . . .

War, and people that votes to go to wars.

One of the great things about wars though... which before I go on, I have to say this sucks because we as a species making great efforts just to annihilate each other is disturbing, pathetic, and depressing, but I digress... the great thing about war is the fact that is has pushed our species to a point we'd still be calling heresy and an impossible dream if we were without war.

Political and armed conflict have forced individual societies to push known limits, ever so carefully reaching out to unfamiliar territory, all in the attempt to develop faster and with a better end result than the competitor.
So much of our technology, and a great deal of advancement in the medical field, is due to problem solving and R&D wrapped around warfare and defense.

Homosexuality. I mean, gays are all, like, "Homosexuals can have important roles in families! Nurture, sensitivity, yadayadayada!" but I don't believe them. They could all be heterosexuals.

I dunno, with the population what it is, it helps to have some guys voluntarily remove themselves from the competition to win over females.

Then again... dammit it evens itself out... some of the ladies also decide to remove themselves from the game and make their own game. Not cool.

I might have to tentatively agree, if only because it brings back some attractive women who decide they have no interest in men.

I would say countries like england, but they aren't seemingly important in the first place, so that's not a valid answer.

So in that case, I would say roaches since I am no fan of them.

*hugs* internet.

While I'm on a roll fast food too.

To HAL9000: That's interesting you were referring to the OS. I split my time between classes (and developing) for both Windows and Linux based systems. I guess I couldn't imagine a world without a largely prevalent Windows OS.

Yeah that's fair enough, I just think that the world would be fine if Windows had never been written, Mac OS or another OS would be the dominant OS in the market place, removing it from the world now would be difficult, but when done I think a step towards open source OS's would begin and that's a great thing. I'm all about open source software.

Neutrons.

Positive or negative, pick a side, we're at war!

Oddly enough, I was contemplating a reply to this thread that is very much like your own. I was recalling that there was a proposal that the reason electrons act so strangely and demonstrate "spin" is that there is really only a single electron in our universe and that it oscillates back and forth through through time, manifesting in each and every place we detect electrons. Maybe if we simply smashed that single electron things would be a bit calmer.

Cool, so the end of the Universe will actually be an epic boss fight with the single master electron.
That should be awesome.

I nominate Captain Proton to be the hero to do the fighting.
