More likely AIM but if you are talking about IM Client then I would be saying GAIM, I like it, it's free and isn't annoying... Simpler for me and I like simpler.

i have been using trillian.. but i heard it is not that popular

AIM 5.5 w/ AIMutation or DeadAIM. why? because its one of the few recent AIM versions that doesnt look too bad and functions the way i like it. doesnt randomly crash either. nice, fast, and smooth for me. plus, there are several good addons, like middleman, messenger mate, etc.

trillian was kinda complex and there were too many options, gaim was too...crappy looking and unstable for me. never tried miranda.

MSN, most of my contacts use it and it's interface is very easy even for new users.

I like AIM with DeadAIM. It works exactly the way I want it to without much configuration: when I'm away it hides ALL windows and sounds, it lets me direct connect to my friends, really clean window layout (with DeadAIM).

Yahoo Messenger and MSN are both really nice with clean interfaces too. I've used the multi-client programs like Trillian and GAIM before and I've always ended up switching back to regular old AIM.

After ICQ got quirky with using old versions like 98a I switched to Miranda and have been happy since. I've used GAIM and Trillian as well as official versions since but none compare to Miranda.

My biggest reason for liking it is this. There are plenty of options available so you can customize to your liking. I like everything clean and minimal. With plugins there is still tons of functionality, and the memory usage is very low (1.5MB or less usually).

Trillian...but I only use it for AIM.....I really dunno why I use it, I should switch to something else since trillian isn't exactly the least bloated or most stable program ever. I think it's because I'm not a fan of gaim or miranda...and AOL's client is too damn annoying with all the popups and crap.

I'd much rather use MSN, as I like that program and interface much more....but I don't know anyone on MSN .

Trillian because everyone I know has a different IM and Trillian has all of the most popular IM's rolled into one.

I used Imici for a while..use Trillian now - just for AIM/YIM/ICQ..but I almost never use YIM/ICQ. I prefer it over AIM because it logs messages..dunno if AIM does or not.

Most of my friends use aim and I use gaim. At my workplace, most people use icq so I still use gaim.

i have friends spread out over yahoo messenger, msn messenger, icq and also aim. so for me, trillian is best. its less 'cluttered' i guess you could say, since i only have to use one program for everything i need.

I, too, have contacts on all 3, MSN, Yahoo and AIM so I used Trillian for a long time but its getting really old and out of date. Most of my AIM and Yahoo contacts aren't on mauch anymore and I hadn't used MSN since 4.xx(Windows Messenger). So Im usin MSN 7.5 now. Its sweet!!! Ya, I know its annoying, but not if you know how to a-patch it and get rid of all the annoying crap. MSN plus helps too and is awesome. I like simple as well but I don't like "boring simple" which is exactly what GAYM is, gay.

Trillian Pro 3.1 I used it a lot but after Windows XP upgrade it is getting problems and sometimes it takes a while to load even with fast CPU.
