If that includes OEM parts and labor, it's a solid price to have someone else do it.
FYI, you should be able to get around 100,000 miles from a set of front pads on the Accord, and 50,000 or so on the rears. I find brake pads are one of places where even "reputable" shops tend to tell you they need to be replaced way too early. I suppose they go really conservative to cover their butts, but it's also something they know 99% of customers will never check themselves and will think "gee, that's a safety thing, I better play it safe and get them replaced!"
i agree 100k miles is very long before changing the pads...maybe 50k? Max.I think you have that reversed? 100k on fronts but not rears? And for the record, I've never known anyone to get 100k out of a set of front pads. Maybe its possible, but I've never seen it.
Brake pads have depth gauges that squeal when you get low. That's when ya know to change them.

I have almost 60,000 miles on my Camry Hybrid and I've had to do nothing to the brakes.
In some cars the rears do wear much faster though. I wonder how much of that is due to using thinner pads though?
And yes, I do brake like a grandma. What's the point of braking hard? I don't race from stoplight to stoplight.....

Don't you have regenerative braking though? If so you're a ringer and are dq'd.
Anyways, some of you brake like grandmas... The environment plays a key, city vs rural, level of population, etc. That said 100K is on the high side, and obviously the rear brakes do not wear twice as fast as the fronts. I think whomever picked 100k was just pulling numbers out of the air.
On my Insight, I bought a set of front pads at 160K, only to find I still had some life left in them. I like the new pads better though.
Yes, but I really just drive it like a normal car... in fact, I drive it like my normal maniac self and I do use the brakes, not just the regenerative braking. Plus, I live in SoCal so a fair amount of stop and go driving.

During light brake pedal application, only the IMA Motor/Generator is slowing the car. With heavier brake pedal application, the conventional friction brakes also come into play.[/FONT]
Agreed. Even if you don't actively try to use regen it still reduces the wear on the brakes.
I know, it's awesome isn't it?
i got 75k out of the first set on my truck. some people only get 30k out of a set. all depends on how you drive.
