So if it wasn't drugs, what was the actual problem you had?

Couldn't he have just pried your eyelids open? I dunno, I'm not medically trained... just asking is all.

If you think he did something wrong then file the complaint and let his supervisor decide. You did nothing wrong, and by lodging a complaint it will go on his file.. What happens if they start finding 16 gauge marks on all his supposed drug overdoses. His career is important but there are innumerable amounts of people that he could be abusing because he has become so calloused.. Submit the complaint and after that its not your worry. Dont do it because you want vengence. Do it because it might stop him from hurting someone else.

So you were too weak to open your eyes, but you remembered everything that happened? Am I missing something here?

Yes, you are. You can be so exhausted that you cannot move, but it doesn't necessarily impair your cognitive functions.

You have a bruise in your arm and your feelings hurt...

hmm, SOUNDS LIKE A CASE FOR JOHN EDWARDS!

I feel bad for you, but ultimately, your health was not put in jeopardy and you are fine. Maybe file a complaint with his management or something - get an apology...

Doesn't the thought of someone who is in complete control over you being abusive to you while you're completely helpless to defend yourself kind of scare you just a little?

Ok so what the hell was wrong with you?

Yeah the guy f-ed up... I would complain... but if you're less panzy you can avoid such situations.

Who the heck put a firecracker on your seat this morning?

ANYONE in medical, especially a paramedic, that is taking care of someone that was in his position should NOT have behaved like that. I am friends with MANY paramedics - and I can guarantee that none of them would ever act like that, even if they had just been told to go to hell by everyone else around them.

I do believe the Paramedic acted irresponsibly and that OP deserves a formal apology. I was just carrying a little anti-edwards / anti-sue hostility over from another thread...

WOOOOOOOOO YAY AMERICA!! SUE EVERYONE!!!

If he was doing what he was doing to make sure you stayed alive or whatever, then you have no right to complain. If you were in his position would you not do whatever you had to to help a patient?

Doesn't sound like the paramedic was doing what he did in order to "help".

Did you actually read the story? Or were you just looking for an excuse to bash Americans?

I'm not sure that the paramedic community is aware that if they use a 16g needle they must use the lights and sirens.

He never said anything about suing. The point is the paramedic assumed it was a drug overdose and used a larger than necessary needle. That large needle was not required for him to stay alive.

File the complaint. If you don't then you will just reinforce the idea that the paramedics behavior was okay.

The OP did the assuming.
