Just arrived here in Tokyo last night. So far so good. Did I mention bidetas feel gooood? Damn I need to buy one in the states.

Well, we are about 5 days in to our trip so far and we are definitely having a blast. Currently on a bullet train to Kyoto via our JR Pass.

I can't say I'm a fan of sight seeing such as temples. It's just not what I'm into. I see it and go "OK cool. What's next?" But my wife likes seeing it so it's cool. What have I been a fan of? Eating all different kinds of food! I've pretty much been everywhere recommended here. The Ramen place, Curry place, and chicken wing place. The ramen place was so good we had to come back for a 2nd round. Also hit up a cat cafe since you guys said to...

The people here are awesome too. I'll update the thread with everywhere we have been along with pics when I get back.

If you're in Kyoto, definitely check out Otsuka in the Sagaarashiyama area. Open for both lunch and dinner, but you need a reservation through your concierge. Fantastic beef (Kobe-quality at working man's prices) and a great shochu selection.

Also, Kendonya near Fushimi Inari has an excellent curry beef udon.

I was in Kyoto a few days ago. Got a stomach virus. My sister, a chef, bought a bunch of knives from a place that's been in business for like 600 years.

Himeji Castle is near Osaka, 1 or 2 stops away on the Shinkansen.

Just flew in to Tokyo last night and went here right after i checked into my hotel. wanted something relatively quick, in and out type of place since i was by myself and tired. Been meaning to see what the hype was about as its a pretty famous place. waited in line for about 30 minutes.

bottom line, probably one of the best gyoza i've had, and ate dinner for less than 600 yen. :biggrin: thanks for bringing this place up!

Just be nice and polite and you will be ok. Don't be an "ugly American" and I am not talking about the look.

I did visit Japan several times and I did enjoy all of my trips. Japan is one of the cleanest place and Japanese are so nice and friendly.
