currently building myself a new system (3700+ SD, 2gb pc3200 ocz el rev2 platinum, 74gb raptor, etc.). i haven't upgraded my system since 9/01 so pretty much anything will be a HUGE improvement (currently on a 1.4 tbird w/ gf2 ultra and 1gb ram). its mainly for daily use, video and photo editing, watching movies, etc. so a card w/ nice 2d/video features would help me out more than a card w/ more gaming oriented features. im not HUGE on gaming, but i wouldn't mind having the option to play some of the newer games and still have them look nice (like hl2, doom3, etc).
card must be PCI-E... im thinking either x700 pro or 6800np (can pick one up for about $200 shipped). would one of those be better than the other or would it be worthwhile to go w/ one of the x800 models? remember, not much gaming, more video editing and general use. or do you have some other suggestion?
TIA.

EDIT: ok, im going with either x800xl, x700pro or 6600gt... so my new question... since gaming really isn't that big of a priority, which technology is better, videoshader hd (ati) or purevideo (nvidia)? from what ive read, there seem to be quite a few issues with the nvidia technology, plus you need to pay an additional $20 for their dvd decoder. so which tech supports more formats, produces a better quality picture, etc. thanks again people!
