I give them a tip. $20 each sounds good, more if it's only like 2 guys or an all day affair. Every mover I've used bust their motherfucking ass, get things done asap and offer to help with assembling furniture etc. Feel way better giving these guys $20, than giving waitresses tips for writing down an order and dropping it off, while posting on FB and playing with co-workers as my drink sits empty.

I had to clean up after them, my car battery died, and while I was on the road at like 10pm, I found out that someone stole my credit card number so the company put a hold on it. Then at about 1am I almost nailed a Golden Retriever that was just standing on I-74 in the middle of nowhere. I ended up getting in to the hotel at 3am where they double charged me.

I was up about 48 hours and slept maybe 5 that night. I passed out on the floor here at the new place last night. Good times.

You didn't pay for the move, though, right?

Your logic there is a little strange. Paying more would be fair to the moving company, or if you'd just hired a couple of guys with a truck to move you. But the movers are paid hourly. If they're not moving your stuff, they'll be moving someone else's, or driving or unloading somewhere.

I think your generosity was borne out of the fact that you weren't paying for the move itself.
