What size monitors do you use for gaming?

Viewsonic 22" 1680x1050. I specifically avoided anything with higher resolution than that so I wouldn't need a monster video card to get a decent framerate.

I have a 22-inch HP CRT. Max of 2048x1536 at 85hz.

Nothing less will do. And I dont have a sturdy enough desk for one of those Sony widescreen CRT's.

For my office system I have an HP L2335. Anandtech reviewed it a while back. Very Nice 23" widescreen. I tried it on my gaming system and while it was better than any other LCD it wasnt good enough.

I use a 1680x1050 19 inch Wide Screen.

It is one of the very few 19 inchers with this res. It looks beautiful as the pixels are very small.

Ancient 20" Dell LCD... the venerable 2005FPW. Still love the thing and it still looks great to this day. I keep wanting to go bigger but 1680x1050 is a perfect res for current vid cards, I can buy a decent card and it will be able to play games maxed out for much longer than with a higher res.

Agonised recently about upgrading to a 26" but decided I can't afford it or justify it. Trouble is I find myself thinking 'if I don't get it now the pound will collapse to 25cents and I'll never be able to buy anything imported ever again!'.

How big is _too_ big for a monitor? Beyond a certain size you'll have to turn your head to see the periphery of the screen, no?
