the size of my iphone4 is perfect. if they could fit a bigger screen on the form factor i'd be all for it, but other than that i don't wnat a bigger phone.

few of my friends have the evo and that thing is ridiculously sized.

and i watch a lot of shit on my phone too, pretty much 80-90 mins a day.

3.6"-4". I had a HD2 at 4.3". It was too big. Its a fucking cell phone.

this. minus me having an HD2. Playing w/ an EVO in the store, I just couldn't comprehend using it. My preference lands more on the 3.6/.7" side.

Though, I will say, given my choices on Sprint.. if they don't get the Pre3 this summer, I will most likely get the EVO3D for its dual core madness (assuming the battery life isn't shit) despite it being a monstrosity in size.

It seems like for many people the answer is 'Whatever size Apple decides'. For others who have used larger screens, the answer is USUALLY the bigger the better. I like the size of the EVO but higher resolutions would be great. When I use friend's iPhones I hate the size of it. Way too small. Obviously at some point, probably approaching 5 inches, the size of the screen becomes too large to be practical to carry around normally.

One thing I would bet money on though, the size will trend upward even from Apple.

That's true of more than just the screen size.

Can you guys not turn this into an Apple vs Android or one of those "let's hate on Apple users" posts. Seriously, this gets old so fast. Fear No Evil, I know your post was probably mostly innocuous but at the same time let's not go down that road. As for zsdersw, you just can't let it go can you?

Screen size is an opinion and user preference thing. Just because User A says 3.5" is perfect doesn't mean he or she is wrong. Just because User B says 4" is perfect doesn't mean he or she is wrong either.

4". I tried an EVO and it was just too much for a phone IMO. Some people like it tho.

FYI a poll might have been a good idea.

Why should I? You continue to give me plenty of entertainment by getting your undies in a bunch about it.

Of course it is, but many people like a particular size only because their favorite phone has that particular size.

I am happy with my 4.3" but could live with a 4".

this is what i was going to say as well. i went from a 3.2" to a 4.3" and it was great, but i think 4" would work well also. i have large hands, so the 4.3" isnt a stretch for the most part, its only a bit large once in a while when i use it 1 handed in landscape mode.

I want the largest possible in an iPHone 4 sized device. I honestly don't want to carry a massive thing in my pocket, and the iPhone 4 still has unused screen space on the thing to add to the screen estate.

I wouldn't want a phone bigger than my Focus, so I guess that means whatever size screen they're able to cram in that space. maybe 4.3.

Of course, I said the same thing about my 3GS and now that screen seems tiny to me.

Actually very little on the internet gets my "undies in a bunch" because I understand how the internet works. Posts like yours bring zero to the table and just shows how immature people can be hiding behind the anonymity of the internet. I find your behavior very childish if that's the extent of what you are trying to do. By the way, if you are doing this because it is to disrupt the discussions, that is an offense that can get you a warning or ban.

Posts such as the many anti-Apple comments you have posted (and the anti-Android or whatever fanboy posts) are distracting and bring down the whole community because we'll inevitably have five pages of crap resulting from your troll posts. One of the reasons why the video & graphics forums are so heavily moderated. I guess I'm guilty in that respect because I'm feeding the troll. In fact, I wasn't even attempting to change your opinion which I know to be biased. It was aimed more at Fear No Evil because he doesn't have a history of such posts like you do.

Personally, it is my belief that you do it because you genuinely are biased and you can't help yourself and have to spout the same anti-Apple message many times in the hopes that someone will side with you. You're like the vinyl record that's stuck on the same part of the record and is repeating the same bit over and over and over again.

4-5"

I'm pretty happy with my 4" Captivate but if I could get the Streak with a Super AMOLED screen and newer processor I'd gladly pick one up.

4.3" to 4.5". More screen means more awesome. Love my Droid x. Those phones aren't even that much bigger than the 3.5" phones because the screen mostly takes up bezel space rather than a 1:1 increase in phone size

The Droid X is very much bigger because of all the bezel around the screen.

4 inch screen would be a perfect fit for most phones. Given the technology that leads to brilliant phone designs, its possible to do this. For example, a 4" screen or something close to it can go in an iPhone 4 sized device. My gf has a Vibrant 4g, and I am blown away on how nicely packaged that phone is. Light and slender. I'm calling it now; the next iPhone will get a bigger screen with the phone being the same height and width. Might even be even more slender.

And I find your wall-of-text hilarious. It's too easy to get this kind of reaction out of you. Maybe your diaper needs to be changed.

This is a warning for both of you, please post on the topic - which is about screen sizes - and not about each other. If you have comments for each other, send personal messages.

I was thinking the same thing. If he isn't upset, why did he type three paragraphs on why he's not upset? lol

I must be the only one who prefers a small screen. I have aT-Mobile Comet, and all it has is a 2.8" screen. Small and easily fits into any pocket. Works well as an mp3 player or radio when I go running. I also do not have any problems with reading the screen.

I remember when I was in high school bigger was better for portable stereos. (Just dated myself there) Then it became smaller is better. Now smartphones are going back to bigger is better. But for me, a small phone is better and more convenient.

4" max, larger than that and it's unusable with one hand and a pain to fit in your pocket.

And 300dpi minimum.

4.3", possibly even slightly bigger (I don't see 5" or larger as being easily pocketable though). Had an HD2 for a year and absolutely loved it; screen shattered last month so I'm using a friend's Nexus One (3.7"?) until I can replace it. As it turns out, I really do miss the extra screen size...95% of my text entry is in landscape mode, so that's probably a big reason why.

I'll probably be getting the Sensation when it comes out instead of the G2x...unless the Sensation turns out not to be quadband 3G, which could make it more complicated.

I went from a iphone 3GS to a Samsung Cap. I really liked the slightly bigger screen. I think if I had a new dual core phone with 4.3-5" screen I won't want a tablet so bad.

From what I saw, the Sensation is not compatible with AT&T's 3G network.
Network
HSPA/WCDMA:

  • Europe/Asia/T-Mobile US: 900/AWS/2100 MHz
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:

  • 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Quad-band voice, Tri-band data. UTMS 850/1900 missing.
Conclusion: Unless they announce some new specs, you will be knocked down to EDGE speeds on AT&T.
