What type of speakers is everyone using?

Also what does anyone suggest for an Audigy Gamer $150 or less? 4.1 or 5.1 ?

Sony 14" Floor speakers and Sony surround speakers

Logitech 4.1 is pretty decent too. If you want Dolby Surround, then I'd have to go with Klipsch or Creative.

Philips 4.1 system - got it for Christmas; cost parents $40 after rebate. Pretty decent actually; no bass/treble controls though. I now can use my nForce2 or NewQ Platinum equalizers for that; the subwoofer is capable of some pretty darn good bass. Either that, or a pair of these, which produce the best sound I've ever heard in a pair of headphones, even preferable to the speaker set sometimes, because I can have much deeper bass in the headphones that with the speakers without disturbing everyone else in the house.

Logitech Z560's got them for $125 when they first came out. Everything is great about them except for how much heat the subwoofer puts out when left on for a long time.

My advice based on over 40 years of audiophile experience - forget computer speakers and get a good set of stereo speakers and an external amplifier. You get a lot more for your money in terms of sound quality. I got a good KLH set at Costco. If you want surround sound - get two sets. Computer speakers look like computer speakers and are basically wimpy. They also carry a higher price tag.

i agree with the other two posts, i love my Z560's

Im running a dual Z560 setup i guess its 800watts total, Dual 4.1 or "8.2" setup.

The bass is off the charts I have pics if your interested but i have these speakers all over the room , also interconnected to the TV because i have a TV tuner, so if i turn the TV on and turn on the tuner to the same channel i have Two speakers for the TV and 8.2 for the computer playing it so i have a 10.2 when watching tv

Not bad for the price I paid for them.
I have the 5300s and they are amazing speakers, despite what people here say. The newer Creative speakers, such as the 5100,5200,5600s are pretty naff, but the 5300s and the 5700s are great.

Wimpy? Theres a laugh. Have you even used things like the Creative MegaWorks or the VideoLogic Digitheartre LC, or some of the high end Logitech speakers? They are certainly not whimpy. A friend of mine has the Creative MegaWorks 5.1 550D, and it sounds 100x better than my fathers £800 Sound System(also 5.1).

$39: Altec 500's (actually 4 channel speaks with a sub feeding off the signal for the other speaks).

Best $39 I ever spent. Really sound pretty good. Mids are kinda muddied, but otherwise nice.

Computer speakers do lack the yummyness of high end systems. But if you encode MP3/WMA right, you can get some pretty good sound. Unfortunaly since most MP3s you download sound like crap it doesn't matter really what speakers you get, you just get clearer sounding crap. I currently have klipsch with audigy 2 and my sis has the logitech 640 with soundstorm, they don't even come close to the speakers i built.

Logitech Z-640. Cheap surround sound goodness that will shake the walls for about $70.

Well, I bought my speakers in grad school when I was studying school rather than speakers. Audigy 2 connected through the external decoder and coax digital in of my Yamaha RV1105 receiver. Bose 501 fronts, 201 rears (next upgrade), center, JBL 350W sub (movies more than music).
