Man, I wish it was legal to tint my font windshield. I'd definitely do it.

its not legal in most states. You can get away with it if you tint the front 50 percent. What it also does is lower the total amount of light entering a car so it makes 35 percent or whatever else you running seem a little darker too. Win Win.

What happens outside the car, do you run rock to rock?

Sunglasses like your clothes are a wear item. It's really about what one can afford. I don't know why so many are making excuses for that.

I am lucky to get 6 months out of a pair of sun glasses.

Excuse?, no, more like "common sense", if sunglass "style" is that important to you than go ahead and pay the "style" tax of $600/yr for being stylish, I only make 46-49K per year, would it be smart to blow $600 of that on friggin sunglasses?..

You don't have to spend $600 a year. I think mine cost about $200 or so, and quite honestly, I barely use them (I think I've had them for about 2 years). It's rare that the sun bothers me enough to wear my sunglasses, but if I have to wear sunglasses, I don't want to wear crappy ones.

Quite honestly, I'd like to just put some 90% tint on the whole front windshield. I just want to keep most of the heat out, and tinting everything BUT the front windshield only goes so far. I don't have a problem with wearing sunglasses if the sun bothers me.

Meh, I've tried on some Ray-bans and they are nice sunglasses just not enough of a difference (IMO) to justify the extra $100. Here in FL sunglasses get used a lot so they have a tendency to get beat up or lost quickly..

50 percent is so subtle its barely noticeable. If you wanted to go crazy you could do 50 percent with a brow on top of it!

I have a brow on my 300zx because of its raked windshield. Helps a ton.

I would tell you but I refuse to converse with infantile, dipwads that use "rolling" and "rocking" in this manner.

Oh no man, us cheap folk are missing out on the technology Oakley offers, here's from their website, :" The pure Plutonite® lenses meet ANSI standards of impact protection while filtering out 100% of all UV and harmful blue light."

See, ours don't have "Plutonite" lenses, we're still living in the Flintstones age of sunglass technology... :'(

I buy the cheapest ones I find that are comfortable. Usually about $20. I use to wear the $5 ones but they are so uncomfortable.

I use to want Oakley's back when I was in high school. Now I couldn't care less about the brand on my sunglasses or clothes.

That $100 is mostly a brand premium with warranty and quality materials. I think it's worth it.

Cheapo $5 sunglasses work, but quality control may be lacking. Among the more extreme stories I've seen are paint/materials causing allergic reactions and the lens not quite blocking 100% UV.

I am lucky to get 6 months out of a pair of sun glasses.

I think it has to do with preference rather than affordability. One of my clients is a 40-something corporate litigation lawyer, head of one of the largest firms in Texas. Needless to say he could afford whatever sunglasses he wants, but I've only ever seen him wearing Wayfarers, which are relatively cheap. I find the same thing with very rich people and cars, by conservative estimates I think he must pull in 75-100 million/year, but his regular car is always just a current-year S-class. He could drive a new Bentley or Rolls or whatever he wanted, but I don't think he really cares that much. Now get him talking about golf, well he'll spend $40k on some golf gear inside half an hour. Passion.

I personally just tend to lose the damned things, lol. I can afford to spend maybe $75-$150 on a pair every couple of months without noticing at all, so I'm not rich or poor, but I've noticed the quality of cheapies has gotten much much much better over the years, so I'm not really concerned about brand names at this point. I have nobody to impress other than my eyes I like the feeling of losing the pair and completely not caring. There are other items which I am much more picky about, and am willing to spend a premium on, but sunglasses just aren't one of those items. Ditto watches, I love cool watches, and some of the brands are badass, I have a Tag that's a good one for the price, and an awesome Vollmer, but some of the best watches I've ever gotten have been $10 understated knockoffs from Canal St, which sometimes last for years and years, despite being made with slave labor in some Chinese hell.

3M Crystaline is what you want. Racers use it to protect their harnesses, it blocks a ton of heat and UV for a clear tint. They do make darker Crystaline films, but the highest is pretty transparent and it's like night and day the difference it makes.

It's expensive to do a whole car with it, but just a windshield would probably be $100 or so.

Wayfarers are $130 to a little over $200. Not really a cheap pair of sunglasses.

I am going to say LOL to a $10 watch being some of the best you have gotten if you are seriously comparing it to even watches in the $200+ range.

I guess sunglasses are the new Diesel jean debate.

Personally they are going to be what people are noticing most about your outfit when you are talking to them.

I have seen some nice fakes out there, but seeing someone in some rinky-dink pair of ghetto shades is sort of embarrassing.
