I am finding my desk is getting slightly polished because of the mouse moving all the time. I have the MS intelli mouse, the one with 2 buttons on each side. When i play games, i find it not accurate enough so i found a peice of cardboard and it seems alright. Any other suggestions?

I'm using an old 3M Precision Mousing Surface. I used it with my old ball mouse until I bought the optical about a year ago. It's worked the best for me so far and I see no reason to change it.

I just use an old, standard type mouse pad with my Intellimouse, I had the same problem on the desktop.
I tried a pad that had quite a rough surface and that didn't work so go for something in-between.

I use the regular fake wooden desk surface, but I notice everywhere I leave the mouse for any extended period of time gets a little dot 'burnt' into the finish. I guess the light from the LED reacts somehow with the surface finish. It looks pretty weird now, there's like 1000 little whitish spots on my keyboard/mouse tray now. Anyone else notice this?

I just use a generic fabric and rubber mouse pad that costs a dollar at the computer shows. Works fine for me, doesn't slide around, and they're cheap.

I use an old regular mousepad that came with RoadRunner (cable modem) for my Logitech Optical Wheel mouse.

I use the fUnc pad as well.

It's been about 8 months since I got it, tho, and I'm seeing areas where the hard plastic has started to wear off; it's mostly right smack in the middle, and it's definitely gotten smoother there (I use the rough side).

Maybe it's time for a replacement, or a time to get used to the other side of the pad...

If resistance is a problem , switch to KY or Astroglide: both available at your local drugstore.

I used to use a blank sheet of paper....

but then i had that weird thing where there are black and brown burnt spots appearing all over the paper. That's one helluva LED on that mouse.

Ye Gods! If your mouse is buring holes in your desktop I suggest you walk away from it very slowly. Be sure not to make any sudden movements that might startle it. Go to your breaker box and kill the power to the room with the computer in it.
