That makes sense, as you're using it with the A/C on, so you're blowing cooler air around, perhaps to where you want. But it's not going to help that much when it hits 25+ in the room and the A/C is off.

One thing I do want to do though is have a return right in my crawlspace, with louvers. Either automated or manual, then add louvers to the other returns. In summer I would just grab the air from the crawlspace which is the lowest part of the house. I would need to add louver/grille to the basement door though if I do that. This would make it so I can move cooler downstairs air back upstairs via the hvac system. It would probably help for a bit without needing the A/C. Once that's not enough then I'd turn on the A/C.

Another thing I want to eventually do is add an outside air return with heavy duty insulated damper. Would also have an ceiling damper/vent that opens up to let the air escape through the attic. This would basically bring the house temp down to whatever it is outside. Then they would close and the A/C compressor would kick on.

Definitely some things you can do by simply moving air to help conserve energy, but at some point you still need to just turn on the A/C if you don't want to be all sweaty in your house.

72f inside, 27f outside.

10:30pm local time.

The oil fired boiler/furnace was on for a while, it had been 67f inside an hour ago.

Looks like Friday night will be 15-20f for the low 30f for the high. Ugh.
Weather undergound station about 5 miles from me; the elevation is about the same as my home.

I had a chill for some reason, so kinda cranked the furnace for a bit today. 23C in this room. -4C outside. Snowed today, one of our first snow falls. Our winters start pretty late now.

Phone says 41 outside, probably about 50 in. I still have some windows open, but I'll close them later this week. Freeze warnings coming up the next couple nights.

We finally broke down and turned on the heat
around 44 deg F currently. For all you folks who use earth standard temperatures, that's approx 6.66. I guess it means I should listen to Iron Maiden at some point today.

Overrated. You need to turn the volume up to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8ZqFlw6hYg
Yea, I have that on cassette and on CD. I realize it's more or less universally recognized as slayers best track, but I'm impartial to Angel of Death. Either way, Reign in Blood is one of the best albums of the 80s. Though I think Scream Bloody Gore by Death is my top album from that era. But that was a good era for music, You have Sepultura's Morbid Visions, Celtic Frost's To Mega Therion, Napalm Death's SCUM, and Bathory's Under the Sign of the Black Mark, and so many other fanfucking tastic albums coming out ....

Anyhow, I know Maiden is "overrated", but I like their music too

I couldn't handle the winters in Canada. -18C is about 0F, which is just brutal.

It's not too bad, from indoors.

I find intense heat worse than cold. Like if I had to actually be outside in this cold, and dressed warmed enough, and covered exposed skin, it would be doable. But with intense heat you sweat like crazy just standing outside, then there is the sunburn part. You can cover more for sun burn but then you just sweat even more and feel all icky all the time.

We went for a vacation down south in Sauble Beach area and there was no A/C at the place we stayed at, so I was constantly sweaty and hot, it was kind of miserable. Going in the lake only helps temporarily.

Only thing with the cold is it sucks for going to work, cold car, having to scrape windows, etc. That's the part of winter I do hate. Have to get up earlier just to deal with that.

When my daughter was old enough to dress herself, she got to choose. I'd give recommendations, but if she wanted to wear something stupid, it was her choice.

In the office now, and it's hot as shit. Probably 70+. 26 outside. I turned my heat on this past Sunday. Temp's set at 55.
