39 out, 59 in with very little heat running. One propane wall heater in a distant room. Can a house have a 'natural temperature'? Appliances, lights, electronics, etc. put off some heat, but not that much.

Wood stove will be fired up before morning though given the forecast of 20s and high winds leading to single digits tomorrow night.

I will be an onion with merino wool layers (1 t shirt then 3 merino wool layers on top, merino wool thermal pants) and a down jacket skin plus merino socks, a merino neck gaiter with a merino scarf over it and a merino hat. Non-merino wool gloves.

coldest day in a few years at least. last week one day was in the 50's. Sunday it was 42 with humidity so it felt warmer. wacky.

Well, we're almost at the coldest period of winter (mid-Jan to mid-Feb) here on the north shore of Lake Superior in Canada. So today's temps are typical for this season. Overnight low last night was -21C (6 below F), forecast high for today is -8C (18 F) because it is warming up to give a bit of fresh snow. Over the next week high / low forecasts are -17 C and -26 C (1 F and 15 below F) at worst, and a bit warmer on most days. Inside the house I have the thermostat set for 23C daytime, 17 C at night (74 and 63 F) and those are bit warmer than summer / fall times because of cool drafts near windows. Lake Superior is a huge heatsink, so places further from the shore by 30 miles or more get several degrees colder in winter.

25° out, 47° in. My central heat might have come on today. I have the thermostat set to 47°, so it's hard to tell. I dropped it to 44° temporarily, and lit a fire. I don't need it coming on til it warms up in the thermostat room.

I don't know how you do it. I must have piss for blood. I keep my living room at 69 degrees and I'm wearing pants, t-shirt, sweatshirt and socks. When the wind blows or it's damp I get chilled. I do keep my bedroom a bit cooler for sleep though. 29 degrees outside right now.

Aside from just liking it cooler anyway, I work outside, so I'm used to it. Dampness makes the cold more noticeable. Sometimes it'll be 57°(a temp I find just about perfect), but due to dampness I'll get a chill I can't shake, and I'll build a small fire to take the chill off.

I remember working outside. When I got home in the winter it would make me sick to be in the heat. I would go stand by the door until I got used to the heat.
