what the difference between 3.0 and 2.5 cas difference?

Actually the terms to start with is:

RAS - Row Access Strobe
CAS - Column Access Strobe
Which relates to the Strobes that refreshes the memory.

Out of these two terms and timing data we derive a term called CAS Latency or CL

The smaller the latency the faster is the memory action.
However CAS 2.5 is only 5% improvement over CAS3

In this case it's prolly not worth the price difference to get the cas 2.5 stuff unless your overclocking and want some more headroom.

It depends on the system I would say. If you've got all high end stuff you might just want to get CAS 2.5 anyways. Though if you are OCing ithe CAS 3.0 stuff will probably run at 2.5 with a touch mor voltage or even possibly at stock.
