BRIELLE, New Jersey (AP) -- An 8-year-old girl who suffers from a rare digestive disorder and cannot eat wheat has had her first Holy Communion declared invalid because the wafer contained no wheat, violating Roman Catholic doctrine.

The Roman Catholic church is collectively, the biggest hypocritical organization since...well....the Roman Catholic church.

BTW, I give them 50 years, maybe less and they wont' exist anymore. Notice all the Parishes closing? Wonder why? See all those "My priest molested me" lawsuits that are QUIETLY being WON? Guess where the money is coming from to shut those people up?

Right. From closing/selling off parishes.

Don't be fooled though; the Catholic Church is still the single biggest land owner in the WORLD. It's a business. A very big one, too.

I went to 13 years of Catholic School. I attended Our Lady Of The Bleeding Knuckles, Sister Mary Viscious, Principal. I did get a much better education than my counterparts that attended public school....but man, did they do a mind-fvck number on me!!!

I stopped being a practicing (notice I didn't say "believing") Catholic in 1986. I'm a better person for it.

If I were the parents I'd be changing to a different brand of Christianity, but that's just me.

The church has a doctrine and members have to accept it to truly be in the faith and not just going through the motions. It's not my faith, and I think worshipping a giant spider is a bit silly, but I have to respect people willing to uphold the terms of their faith.

Like the whole universe revolving around the Earth doctrine they had for so long. When did they finally repeal that....wasn't it in the late 1980's?

Personally, I could never be a part of any faith that condemns good people to eternal suffering just because they didn't follow the proper rituals call their creator by a different name, or lived a good life without accepting the existence of any creator.

But again, that's my faith. If someone has accepted Catholicism as their spiritual path they are obligated to believe Timmy will burn in hell along with every Buddhist, Muslim, Shintoist, Athiest, Agnostic, Protestant, etc. who doesn't follow the letter of their law. Catholicism is an autocratic faith where open-mindedness is rebellion against divinely inspired truth, and away from the path to salvation.

None for me, thanks.

It's one thing to disagree with a religion, but to openly bash other people's beliefs not only makes you hypocrital, but makes a lot of asses out of the 9 out 10 of you that are just BSing about what you don't know about.

Wrong. Catholicism is founded on the idea that whatever your sins are, you can be forgiven as long as you accept God. No catholic is "obligated to believe" that anyone will burn in hell. That ranks on the most ridiculous things I've heard.

It's funny how gay-bashing around here gets you banned, but bashing religion is somehow accepted. It's one thing to not share the same beliefs as someone, but to mock people about it is rude.

No, you are WRONG. I had Catholic Doctrine literally BEAT into my head for 13 years.

According to THEM, ALL other religions are false and God will deny you entry into heaven for believing in them. And "GOD" is THEIR God, I.E. the Roman Catholic God that died and rose after three days in the grave. According to the Catholics, there is ONE correct religion; Catholicism. Not "Christianity" not "Baptist" "Buddhist" etc.

IMO ALL organized religion stinks and is for weak people, but that's not the topic; me making you look stuipid is.

This forum doesn't like religion, or anything that tells them what to do with their life. They will shove it down your throat that its stupid and you're stupid for believing in it. But when some Jehova's witnesses shove it down their throat that they're going to hell they don't like it either. lol. pure entertainment.

that being said, i think they're being too anal with this wheat technicality. :frown:

i read that today and i couldnt believe the story - i am even more amazed that the parents continue going to church after they experiencs that BS.

I am catholic, but i dont give a d*rn for the *institution* church and their laws/rules.

Obviously (see this story) the church's bizarre dogmas/laws are much more important than actual faith....like its better just to follow the institutional rules instead of just having genuine faith or a belief, which (very well) might stand well above the 'institution' of a church.

Stupid, stupid....
