Catholicism is an autocratic faith where open-mindedness is rebellion against divinely inspired truth, and away from the path to salvation.

Wrong. Catholicism is founded on the idea that whatever your sins are, you can be forgiven as long as you accept God. No catholic is "obligated to believe" that anyone will burn in hell. That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard.

It's funny how gay-bashing around here gets you banned, but bashing religion is somehow accepted. It's one thing to not share the same beliefs as someone, but to mock people about it is rude.

No, you are WRONG. I had Catholic Doctrine literally BEAT into my head for 13 years.

According to THEM, ALL other religions are false and God will deny you entry into heaven for believing in them. And "GOD" is THEIR God, I.E. the Roman Catholic God that died and rose after three days in the grave. According to the Catholics, there is ONE correct religion; Catholicism. Not "Christianity" not "Baptist" "Buddhist" etc.

IMO ALL organized religion stinks and is for weak people, but that's not the topic; me making you look stuipid is.

That's not what was beat into my head. Ive attended other Christian congregations and they do say that, they even make fun of Catholics but I don't remember being told that in the Catholic church.

You obviously did not attend my old fashioned Catholic School/Church. I remember (vaguely, admittedly) them saying mass in LATIN. If you SNEEZED, they'd smack you b/c it was the devil communicating thru you.

BTW, a "Christian" church is the biggest crock of sh1t of them all. They take the safe middle ground; "We're for Jesus!! Not any "church!" is their buy-line!

IMO, the only people who have a leg to stand on when it comes to saying " I know stuff about the Catholic church" are former Catholics, Protestants and Lutherans. Those three are very close in their (bullshiit) beliefs.

Actually, it was 1992 that the Catholic Church apologized for the way Galileo was treated... the Catholic church quietly admitted the Earth was not the center of the universe over a century earlier when it removed Galileo's works from their banned list of readings.

its all part of god's plan, obviously. Everything that happens in this world is all part of god's plan. that car wreck where people died, yep, that's part of god's plan. he planned that. that nuke on hiroshima, well, that was part of god's plan apparently. I just love the ultimate cop out that christians pull.

anyway, maybe the fact that it was declared invalid is a good thing. maybe the little girl will grow up and see how bogus the religion is, and if that happens, it must be part of god's plan! for people to see how bogus humans ridiculously associating themselves with divinity.

God and God alone is the judge of people's character. There is no reason for me to judge other people... therefore, I am not wrong. It is not my position to say that anyone will go to heaven or hell. Say what you want but I believe that my God is both fair and forgiving. I am not condemed to hell by not believing what humans decided would be "the way" for Catholocism many years ago.

Oh boy. You're probably also one of those people that believes "God will provide/show me the way/look out for my family" right? God will pay your bills. Yep. Sure he will. Let me know how that works out for you. It's all in The Scriptures, right?

I went to Catholic school for the second half of my Junior year.

My G/F brothers G/F had a bad heart and was chasing the bus one day after school and dropped dead. She was a very quiet and shy girl and not many people even knew who she was. Never the less, the powers that be decided that "Everyone would attend her funeral". Well, I started thinking about that and wondered how I would feel if I was her parents and knew that 99% of the people at her funeral didn't even know who she was, and the only reason they were there was that they were FORCED to be THERE. I took up my "cause" with those in charge and explained my reasoning. They in turn said "If anyone doesn't want to go, they don't have to, they can be excused if they come and ask to be." to which I said "Well no one will DO that, they will just go along with the program so as not to make waves. I think it should be that anyone who wants to go, can, but there should be no rule stating they have too."
They wouldn't budge.

After that, there was NO WAY I was going to attend that school again. All they cared about was how THEY would appear, not how others felt about their actions. IMO this is typical of the Catholic Church in most of their dealings.

Well, yeah. So is the Catholic Church. A couple of THOUSAND years old, last time I checked. I can only hope that I see the day when they disband...like a drug-addled group of aging rockers, they are well past their prime. Hell, we've got The Internet for our own Personal Jesus now!!!! Who needs God? As long as my DSLAM is working, I don't need no stinkin' God!

but you go around telling non-catholics that they will burn in hell if they dont convert to catholicism right? I mean I am not making this up, hell my own family thinks my children are living with original sin because I never baptized them in the catholic church, and they can go to hell for that.

MY CHILDREN.

they can be baptized whenever they are good and ready to in whatever faith they choose to believe. There is NO CHURCH on this world that will tell me otherwise...

the catholic church....man o man the mind fvck they can do to people, HELL whole COUNTRIES..... amazing.

No. I don't go around telling people they will burn in hell. Actually, I wish that Catholics wouldn't go through confirmation until they are ready to on their own. Doing it at the 8th grade level doesn't quite give kids the ability to make that decision on their own, and whichever way they choose to go, it IS a decision that they should make on their own.

Like I said, everyone is free to make their own decisions and in the end I believe that God will judge those decisions.

Regardless of whether God exists or not, following in the ways makes me a better person.

these laws of the catholic church were not made for no reason, the reasons specifically were to control the masses and continue to keep the catholic fatih growing at a time when religion and faith were used much like goverments and politics are used today...

don't ask me for the history lesson tho because iI was never any good at it. but I was in catholic school from k-12 so some of it stuck to me

Yeah, that really sucks. Religion is just a business, nothing more

Not just that, but it's political as well. The Vatican has tremendous power.

If someone has accepted Catholicism as their spiritual path they are obligated to believe Timmy will burn in hell along with every Buddhist, Muslim, Shintoist, Athiest, Agnostic, Protestant, etc. who doesn't follow the letter of their law.

Latin? :Q Thats probably why then... that must mean you're pretty old too...

Well I was raised with it, but then again I'm not even a practicing Catholic... I think I can pretty much say I know what right and wrong is just like everyone else, I just don't like it when churches make these laws out of nowhere just because they can.

these laws of the catholic church were not made for no reason, the reasons specifically were to control the masses and continue to keep the catholic fatih growing at a time when religion and faith were used much like goverments and politics are used today...

don't ask me for the history lesson tho because iI was never any good at it. but I was in catholic school from k-12 so some of it stuck to me

So was I... Unfortunately.

I'm not saying all their laws have no purpose but there are some I just don't agree with or understand , I suppose its all politics.

i'm catholic, but i don't believe in half the crap the religious authorities preach

i sh1t you not, i have chugged the wine at communion before

Catholicism is the worst. My mom used to be catholic..... until they told her she was going to hell because of a previous failed marriage (she stupidly got married right out of high school). They also told her when she married my dad that the marriage would not be recognized by the church (because back then you weren't allowed to get a divorce) and that any children she had with my dad would be bastard children. Lets just say that was more than enough for my mom to give the big middle finger to the catholic church and to convert.

I'm pretty sure that was changed with Vatican II.

Back to the original article,

[The] mother is pushing the Diocese of Trenton and the Vatican to make an exception, saying the girl's condition should not exclude her from the sacrament, which commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ before his crucifixion. The mother believes a rice Communion wafer would suffice.

Setting aside the whole issue of wheat-only hosts, how is she being "excluded from the sacrament?" Catholic communion is 100% valid under the species of wine only. The diocese made this option available, and the mother turned it down.
