svchost.exe is used a lot by adware . they will just rename their executables that so it might not be the svchost that windows comes with.

Why are there so many?

Because MS realizes it's better to split up the tasks based on the security requirements and other logic break points. Unless your having a problem, this appears normal and isn't really anything you need to be woried about.

all my virus checks, spyware checks, and adware checks yield nothing. Guess it is normal. Just that its been 1 day on Vista and I panicked. Eh. Other than that, the OS is pretty nice. Dont like the missing "Up one level" though...

Why?

At the address bar in every window you can easily click the previous folder at the top, or the folder before that folder, or before that folder.

Far easier than XP's "up one".

if interested,
the hotkey for 'up one level' in explorer is alt+up arrow

unlike vista, XP doesn't seem to have a hotkey for this

If your referring to return to parent folder... use the backspace in XP, it seems to be missing in vista

Vista's explorer interface is a warmed over turd. It was useful in XP. It's pretty well a polished turd in Vista.

It works for me I prefer navigating with the address bar, but Alt up will be useful on occasion. I much prefer Vista's interface to XPs. I can't think of anything I miss atm.
