PNY....VERTO...Leadtek....MSI

it is kinda confusing to a slow person like me, i am looking for one that has S-video out, DVD encoding and and that is about it....i wasa looking at best buy since i had coupon card for there but the verto is the one the carry and when i looked at the specs compared to the G-Force 3Ti 200 it was worst as far as resolution, No DVD encoding and something about pixels....so if anyone could reccomend a brand i would appreciate it

thanks

I just installed a Gainward TI 4400 and I like it so far. Decent 2d. I haven't played a DVD yet but I'm sure it'll run fine. It's a good overclocker as well. It has S-Video out also.

I have a PNY Ti4400 I have no problems with. I usually run it at stock speeds, but I've OCd to 4600 speeds without issue. The IQ 12X10X32 is probably as good as any other.

Is PNY the "one to get"? Doubt it, but it was on the shelf in front of me, and vgas don't seem to stay in my box long anyway.

I got the PNY and I kinda wish I had gotten the Leadtek instead. 2D isnt much better than my Hercules Prophet II PRO was. 3D is a little better.

Wow. Your experiences with the Herc prophet2 pro are waaaaaayyyyyy different then mine. I had that card, and a herc gts 64, and can say unequivocally the 2d image qulaity on the VT GF3, PNY GF4 4400, the Radeon VIVO, and the Radeon 8500 all BLOW AWAY the Herc GTSs.
To each his own I guess, but those GF2s were sacrifices I made for fps.

I can only relate to what I've owned, but check this out:

Gainward GF2 Pro 450: Fastest OC (20%), most stable
MSI GF2 Pro 8831: Will OC a little... (10%)
Asus GF2 v7700: Won't OC even 1Mhz

As far as manufacturers go, I will always buy from Gainward. IMHO they use the best quality components and OC the best.

Pssst! They're all the same. All have S-video out (I believe that's correct). All are overclockable. Buy on price and consider any extra stuff thrown in that might be valuable (though nobody offers a worthy game bundle).

No complaints about my Leadtek Ti4400. Great card.

I'm leaning toward the PNY Ti4400 cuz it's the cheapest. I don't NEED a new video card (have a GF3Ti200 now) and Nvidia will have something new in 6 months, so why not go cheap? If it OCs to near-4600 speeds, I'm $150 ahead and get the performance.

Gainward or Leadtek and even Elsa if you can find their rare GF4 Ti4400 cards, these have very good 2D quality and are all top brands.

Just to note, none of the GeForce 4 Ti cards have hardware DVD decoding (if that is what you meant). The GF4 MX cards do, however. Nvidia did this because they felt that people buying the Ti cards would have more powerful computers than those buying the MX cards. A decently powerful computer (actually, pretty much anything over a 400 - 500 mHz processor) has no need for hardware DVD decoding, since the processor can handle it. If you don't already have a program for it (ATI's won't work for non-ATI cards), make sure you get a card from a company that includes a software DVD program. I got my 4600 from VisionTek, and it included a full version of PowerDVD.

Clicky The chaintek card seems to have the most overclocking potential out of the bunch, plus it looks cool as hell if you care about looks on a videocard.

Well, I bought the PNY GF4 Ti4400 yesterday. It was brand new, never opened, but what came out of the box really pissed me off. No install CD, no 3D glasses, and GF3 Ti200. You read it correctly. PNT packed a GF3 Ti200 into the GF4 Ti4400 box!!!
So be careful when you're getting a PNY.

Where did you purchase it from? It may have been the retailer?

<< how loud is that leadtek geforce 4 >>

Medium loudness. There are two fans. I've heard you can remove the dust screens to quiet them down. You also have the option of disconnecting one fan, sliding the other to the middle. I was going to do that but my system is quiet enough.
