I've had Facebook for awhile, and got the update this afternoon. The new update isn't that bad, but I agree the previous version was a lot better.

You can turn off notifications. It's really, really easy. I agree that every change since they let people without college email addresses join has made it progressively worse.

that should be a notification I should have to TURN ON not off, it should be off by default. Myspace doesn't send me bullshit like this by default, Facebook shouldn't either. and by the time I realize it was something that was even a feature, I already had 150 emails from only 2 fuckin days! I canceled my account, stupid bitches.

Also, you clearly don't understand what spam is. Quantity does not make a message spam. Being unsolicited makes a message spam. The e-mails were not unsolicited, so they're not spam.

Also, FWIW, they're not emails from people you don't know. They're emails which are notifications of people you don't know, posting on a photo which you were tagged in.

It's not like that person is deliberately emailing you.

Finally got the update. I love it. The old news feed would often show outdated items like an event a friend went to last week, so now that the stream is showing things in "real" time, it makes a lot more sense. Add in some easy filtering on the left and longer term items on the right and I am very happy.

Or just go to the settings and disable email notification from that shit. Or mark facebook as junk mail. This is 100% user error QueBert. Don't blame facebook for the fact that you're too brainless to set it up properly.

Btw, just finally got the change. It's ok but I'm not crazy about the big faces of everybody all over the place. If there's a setting to just turn all the avatar pictures off (or at least reduce the size like it was before) I'd love it much more.

You can't set it to make it so people always can't tag you. I don't want to be included in other peoples shit, even if I'm not getting notifications about it. Some idiot somewhere still might be adding my name to some pic because I remind them of Broccoli or some shit.
