GMAIL DOMINATE YOU FACE

If I could create folders with gmail, it might. So far, I like the new yahoo email much more.

I have all kinds of folders in my gmail....been using it exclusively for ~3yrs. Access it from anywhere. Maybe you just need to splash around in it for awhile.

I use labels but haven't seen how you can create folders. Care to enlighten us?

I can't figure it out. I've tried on my home and work computer that are on different ISPs. Everytime I try, I come up with a "cannot display webpage" error.

EDIT: There we go, clearing out my cookies got me in. Weird.

This is really my only complaint about Gmail, but it's still what I use for my personal mail.

I wish they'd just enable this function, I'm sure there are tons of people out there that'd like it also.

Have you used the gmail label system? With rules + labels you basically have folders, but the interface is much more powerful than just a traditional folders system. Each email can have multiple labels assigned to it, so essentially you can store it in multiple 'folders'. It's difficult to explain, but after using labels I would never want to go back to folders.

Too complicated. That's why Outlook has rules + labels + folders. Folders = fastest way. The point of gmail is to use search right? But Outlook has search too, yet we use folders. There is a benefit in having folders, and I think Gmail is just retarded for that.

It's great for personal needs and basic email, but I like how Hotmail is pushing the idea of Outlook. If you can't get used to Outlook I don't see how you guys email at work... Maybe Lotus Notes but still most people use Outlook in the corporate environment.

You obviously don't understand what gmail labels really are. You get the exact same functionality of a folder, plus a lot more. You can setup your own rules and labels in gmail that are definitely more flexible than Outlook, which I use daily. I have multiple accounts forwarded to a single gmail account, and all get their own labels, up to 10. On the left side, I can click "Work" and every email that has anything to do with work will pop up. I can also click "Home" and anything sent to home, including emails also sent from work to my home address, will pop up. Folders aren't nearly as flexible since you only retain 1 copy of the email in 1 place. The embedded chat, which is becoming much more widely used, and extremely powerful search capabilities are just more bonuses on top of the more intelligent sorting system.

Another huge bonus of gmail is the addition of google spreadsheets and google documents. Instant access to spreadsheets I share with multiple people is undoubtedly one of the coolest features. My wife and I used it for our wedding RSVPs, expenses, and gift tracking. I have multiple spreadsheets with friends to help them build their own computers by commenting on their choices. The list goes on.
