Brendan Behan has been dead for 40 years, and I don't really think his comments translate to this situation: Richards stands to make only relatively little from the Seinfeld DVD sales, and the publicity that will result from this gaffe jeopardizes whatever is left of his career. I agree. When the audience members laughed a little, I almost cringed. It must be hard being one of the funniest people ever and then having to be serious. People just don't take you seriously.

Yeah, that struck me as odd too. "Afro American" is a few generations old in terms of the politically-correct terminology for referring to black people. I guess it was out of nervousness, but he sounded like an old man referring to "Afro Americans," and "the blacks."

I saw it, it was sad and uncomfortable, he probably should of gone on some other show instead of taking up Jerry's timeslot on the lateshow (even though it was kind of his idea)

He even said that Letterman was probably not the right place to do the apology.


As for the people laughing(on Letterman), i bet not every one knew what it was all about & thought it was some sort of joke. Seinfield had to tell them to "stop laughing, this is serious".
I had just happen to here earlier in the day that he went on some sort of rant but didn't know the extent till watching Letterman.

That's where he went wrong, it's perfectly OK to hate and discriminate Gays in the U.S. but leave all others alone, apparently he didn't get the memo, he is after all 57 so he is out of touch.
