It appears to me that he just lost it. Now, I don't know if loosing it and screaming racial slurs at other people make you a racist but I know one thing. Losing it and murdering somebody makes you a murderer.

He was having a bad day probably, these mo fux ticked him off. He blasted them down. Big deal move on. It's not like any of us here haven't used or wanted to use the N word sometimes when that one black fellow at the mall takes your parking spot and has a dew rag and a cell phone wrapped around his head with an elastic.

As for the people laughing(on Letterman), i bet not every one knew what it was all about & thought it was some sort of joke. Seinfield had to tell them to "stop laughing, this is serious".
I had just happen to here earlier in the day that he went on some sort of rant but didn't know the extent till watching Letterman.

This is not so serious that he doesn't deserve a 2nd chance, IMO.

2nd chance for what?

Get it right the next time and bash Gays instead of Blacks?

That's where he went wrong, it's perfectly OK to hate and discriminate Gays in the U.S. but leave all others alone, apparently he didn't get the memo, he is after all 57 so he is out of touch.
Oh, lighten up. Words are not the end of the world. You won't hear the n-bomb coming out of my mouth, but its use in the black community is so common that its often used as a greeting. It's also very common to hear in rap songs. I actually believe this has changed the severity of the word.

He did do wrong by saying the n-word, but he does deserve a second chance. I hope they will forgive him. It's bigger to forgive than to hold a grudge for something like blurting out a word that a man regrets deeply so for doing and has apologized for.

Exactly.

He wasn't in the right here, but if Spike Lee did that to whites, people wouldn't be in an uproar.

But you know what thats a big if and Spike Lee never did that so what you are saying doesnt even make sense.

I watched the apology and as a African American I am happy to see him be sincere on the TV. He should have done this on CNN. I think this is really going to hurt him in life. Poor poor choice in things to say.

You know what? With the sincere apology he displayed, he is still a dumba$$ at the highest level. He may or may not be a true racist, but he purposely attempted to knock those hecklers down so deep in their core with total disregard for others who were in that audience.

It was a vicious attack, much worse than if he flipped out and beat them with his hands. After all, he did not attack them as individuals, he attacked their families, their history, everything. He simply is on a high horse and was outraged by someone he considered so under him, how dare they judge him on stage.

I'm not buying it!

Publicity stunt. Given the timing, almost certainly staged. You shocked and horrified people make sure you run right out and buy the DVD.

OMFGBBQ we agree on something

I believe it is too.

I bet originally it was designed to bash Gays but after the election he went for black for attention.

Vic, now you must KNOW you're wrong.

BTW, I'm tired of the term African American. I haven't stepped one foot on the African continent and my predecessors haven't for hundreds of years. We don't call white folks European Americans.

I saw we just go back to the usual black and white

I think most know what it is. I think many here just had so much respect and liked the guy, they are having a hard time seeing the obvious. I liked the guy too, until I saw his blind hatred.

I said in another post in P&N that I think everyone is a bigot, just on vastly different levels. Everyone will have some sort of intolerance to someone who is of different religion, ethnic backgrounds, lifestyle, creed or color. The battle we have in life is to overcome our inner fears, to accept difference and to better ourselves. If he came on Letterman last night and said look, I am a racist, I also promise to try to make myself a better human being. I would have taken what he said at face value and said good luck to him. That would have taken real courage and would have shown that he realizes his inner demons and wants to correct them. As it stands, he does not consider himself to be racist . I consider him not only a racist, but also a liar. All he will do now is sweep the obvious under a rug.

I agree although I have seen black people on television calling white people "European Americans"... perhaps hoping it would catch on... thankfully, it hasn't.

Black and white is fine. I've seen people call blacks in England "African Americans" out of habit. All this politically correct stuff is just plain silly.

Just because he said that to one person doesn't makes him a racist. Did you get this up-in-arms when Beyonce's comments? Pretty much every hugely popular black comedian uses the words beloved patriot or cracker, that's ok though?

You need to settle down. He made one comment to one person and you act like he was burning crosses on Oprah's lawn.

Actually, I was just thinking that myself, but we aren't THAT advanced in society to get beyond that. This ain't Star Trek

The the world of political correctness has gone overboard. I mean I don't go around telling people I am a European Canadian! I have never been to Europe and do not identify with anyone there.

What is so wrong with being called black? I am white and I take no issue with it. We are who we are right?

I was thinking of Star Trek too. Especially that one episode where the people were black on one side and white on the other. They looked the same to Kirk but they were black and white on different sides and that was the basis for the hate. Deep stuff, lol.

He not only attacked that one guy, but also attacked the guys father, mother, brothers, sisters, kids and his entire history. For you to even consider what he said as only a personal attack, well you are entitled to your opinion of course, but I think you need to look into this deeper.

As for Beyonce's comments, I never heard them, but if it was full of hatred and intolerance , well she is a racist too.

Yeah, that would be great... I think it's stupid when people get offended by a term like "Afro-American." I guess they think an afro is just a bad hairstyle or something. It was the proper term for years, now some people think it's offensive.

The more I think about this, the more I think it was just a misguided attempt at humor... he was frustrated by the heckling, had to think quickly to keep his act going, and apparantly didn't think hard enough. He obviously thought he was being funny at the time. If he really was a racist, I don't think he'd expose it in front of a big crowd like that - that would be stupid and illogical and career suicide. When Mel Gibson did it he was drunk off his ass and not in front of a crowd. So that has me leaning toward a bad, misguided attempt at a joke.

My take is that he had to think quickley too, but his real feelings and personality came out. Just like how the liquor loosened up Mel's tongue, and his true self came out. What the actor that played Kramer said was inexcusable. This should be a career ender for him. He should never work in show biz again. Spike Lee never said anything anywhere near as offensive about white ppl. This guy is a racist trash and should be hung upside down and have a folk shoved up in him.

As an aside, I don't like the term African American either, but some ppl obviosly do. It seems to have caught on in this time of everyone trying to be overly PC.
