I got there at 7am. I was 67th in line. The line really moved for the first half hour, then it got progressively lower. At 11am, I found out they weren't doing the activation anymore, and an at&t guy came out to say they were low on 16GB. It was my turn around 11:20, and I learned they were out of the 16GB. I was pissed, but didn't want to leave with nothing.
The guy had all sorts of trouble adding the phone to my existing plan, so I told him to ask his boss what to do. She tells him to take me out of my current plan, give me a new plan, then add me back to my old plan. I looked at her like she was crazy, but she wore to me it would work. My suspicions were correct, as they can't do it.
At this point, I know both of the phones were dead, so I look at the guy, who looks at the boss, who looked like she was about to cry. She goes off for a moment, then tells the guy to give me a new sim card. He programs the sim to my number, then offers to put it in my old phone. I ask him is he sure this is going to work, and he laughs. He makes a test call to show me that all is well. I smile, shake his hand, and get up to leave. He hands me his card, and tells me to call him. He tells me he's going to do all he can to get me a 16GB before I leave. I shake his hand again, and thank him again for his help.
On the drive back to where I'm staying, I get a beep letting me know I had a email, so I'm thinking I'm good, at least for now. Once I get in, my gf tells me my phone is off. I tell her she must have called during the switch, but sadly that wasn't the case. I'm not looking forward to calling 611. I'll see how you guys make out with activating the iphone.
