There's a decent deal on tickets and hotel in Denver (smack in the heart of downtown). The major question is: what to do in Denver? It's going to be my wife, daughter (4 years old) and me.

Thanks, ATOT!

the zoo is ok, they have arctic wolves and some warm water penguins. What are you looking to do? outdoor activities? shop?

Can you rent a bike and stroll around? I heard Denver has some good sightseeing trails, but not too adventurous (don't want to risk the kid).

Definitely not shop - rather see the city and the immediate surroundings. Walk about, bike about, maybe do a short trip on a car in the immediate vicinity.

Ideally out of SJC, but SFO is also not a problem.

1. Garden of the Gods - Colorado Springs (about 50
miles away)
http://www.gardenofgods.com/home/index.cfm?flash=1

2. Mount Evans Scenic Byway - Highest paved road in the
country - OPENS May 22nd!

3. Red Rocks Aphitheatre - The most amazing NATURAL
amphitheatre in the world! It has trails and paths to
walk around, when concerts are not playing, it is a
natural park.

4. Visit a dozen BREWERIES in a day - Colorado is known
for their micro beer breweries. I would recommend heading to Fort Collins, Colorado (about 50 miles away) and stopping bye different breweries.
Here is a list of BREWERIES in Colorado:

MY RECOMMENDATIONS ARE IN THIS ORDER!!!!! THIS IS A LOT
OF FUN!!!!
- 1. Left Hand Brewery1265 Boston Ave Longmont, CO
80501 (303) 772-0258
- 2. New Belgium Brewing Company500 Linden, Fort
Collins, CO 80524 (970) 221-0524
- 3. O'Dell Brewing Company800 E Lincoln Ave Fort
Collins, CO 80524 (970) 498-9070 or (888) 887-2797
- 4. Fort Collins Brewery, 1800 Lincoln Ave #B, Fort
Collins CO 80524 (970) 472-1499
- 5. H.C. Berger Brewing Company, 1900 E Lincoln Ave.,
Fort Collins CO 80524 (970) 493-9044

5. Visit the Capital - right downtown, then take the
FREE 16th Street Mall Ride to all the shops from The
Capital to Union Station. Walk along the Platte River to REI. That will show you a bit of Denver.

You're looking at about $241 per person round trip out of SJC... I'll let you know if I find anything cheaper.

There's one $210 flight round trip out of SFO... but the rest of the flights, even from the same airliner are $241.

Denver Zoo is always fun. You could also go over to Coors Field and catch a Rockies game.

Ok this was a joke....really bad food.

Seriously, only go there if you want a side of hepatitis with your stale nachos. That place is as disgusting as a Chucky Cheese ball room.

LS21 put out a good list.

If you think your daughter can handle it, or you can carry her in one of those backpack-kid-tote things, Hanging Lake is always beautiful, and that puts you somewhat near Glenwood Springs, so enjoy a nice hotspring afterwards.

Zoo, natural history museum, art museum and aquarium are all decent.

I advise having a Malt Whiskey and chili-cheese chips at Pint's Pub, near the Art Museum, and getting breakfast at Dozen's across the street.

For some of the best burgers, go to the Cherry Cricket in Cherry Creek.

I'll 2nd the recomendation for Garden of the Gods park.

Pic of the park

I'm from San Jose and had a client in Colorado Springs - was absolutely gorgeous checking out all the different formations and the walking trails are super easy with little elevation.

A big plus is you can drive through the entire park and park at whatever formation you want and then walk from there.

When you are done - you can drive up to Pike Peak.s I also remember driving past the cliff dwelling Indain village but we ended up being too cheap to check it out.

About things to do in Denver when you're dead
:music:

Thank you Mr. Zevon I knew I'd find some way to work that phrase into something other than the song itself.
