What to do in Kansas City this weekend?

My good friends at Caesars sent me a nice free flight/hotel/game package for two to visit KC.

Me and a buddy of mine are going to be at the Harrah's in KC Thursday night to Sunday morning. Looking for ideas on what to do other than just gamble at the casino. I am going to the Yankees/Royals game on Saturday evening, other than that no plans.

Looking for a list of places to go, things to see, what to do. Won't have a car, so we will be restricted to cabbing it.

Any tips or ideas are much appreciated!

Find the local bar-b-q in the worst neighborhood you can find.

I've done this across the bread-basket and it's turned out very well for me.

Worlds of Fun has a couple of decent coasters if you're into that.

There's a pretty cool WWI Museum near the Liberty Memorial if you're into history.

There is the College Basketball Experience if you're into hoops.

Also tours of the Kansas Speedway which is right near a big Cabela's if you're a Nascar redneck.

Those are a few of my faves.

You also can cruise the Country Club Plaza area and check out the fountains. Cruise through Mission Hills if you want to see some very large rich people mansions. There is also shopping and other stuff at Crown Center and Union Station and then you have the Nelson Art Museum and Kansas City Zoo.

the city is very spread out, so if you don't have a car, i dunno what you can do

if the weather is good friday evening, you can go to the power & light district if you like people/people watching

there isn't anything going on at the sprint center or the major theaters (like bands)

I'm in the area, but I'm a loner gamer who doesn't do much .

In addition to BBQ you should try Strouds if you like home cooking.

The Nelson-Atkins art museum is pretty nice. In the same area as the Speedway there is a ton of stuff. Food. Stores. Lots and lots.

Gates and Bryant's are the best known BBQ joints, but IMO, not that great.

Power & Light, Plaza, and Westport are all fun areas.

KC is spread out, so that can be a challenge.

True Story. Oklahoma Joe's is where locals go for BBQ. It's in a gas station. Seriously. But it's amazing. Note: CLOSED ON SUNDAY!

Westport is more meat market than P&L.

Lol, me and some friends went to KC for a concert one weekend and the concert got cancelled. It was a 3 hour trip and we were like, we'll just hang in KC there's got to be lots to do. WRONG. We went to Power and Light district and everything was closed. The city was DEAD.

We went bar hopping to the empty bars and at some point actually ran into Bango Tango (yes, that band from the 80's, but no, not the band we had went to see) and spent some of the night BS'ing with them.

What he said. Oklahoma Joe's is the best bar none. There's ice skating over at the arena in Independence, MO. Nice golf course and lake by my house over in Lee's Summit, MO.

Honestly, go see the avengers, then go to westport and drink heavily. Its about the only fun thing to do in the KC area and Arthur Bryants sucks ass. Oklahoma Joes is where its at.

This. Oklahoma Joe's is the best. Glad they have one near me in Olathe. Heard one is opening in Town Center I think it was.

Boulevard brewery would be cool tour if you're into beer.

Went to Oklahoma Joe's tonight. Thought it was ok. Not sure what the big fuss was about. Got the rib and brisket dinner. Brisket was meh. Ribs were good but I've had better off the grill at home. What's the big deal with this place?
