And whats with so many people from Oregon or going to Oregon on this site lol.
Good question, there are at least 50 AT'ers living in Oregon.
DAMN YOU KALIFORNIANS!
Well, there's one less now. I made the move from Southern Oregon to Charlotte, NC about 3 months ago.
But yeah, from the time I've spent there, Salem's pretty boring. Portland on the other hand seems to always have something going on. Lots of live music, good restaurants, etc. If you are into books at all, you have to go to Powell's book store on Burnside. It's one of the biggest bookstores in the country. Maybe even in the world. They've got a huge selection of used books.
Downtown Portland is really beautiful. I spent some time up there a few months ago, for the first time in a few years. I was really surprised at how much nicer it had become. Maybe it's the economic recovery, but the whole downtown seemed to have been cleaned up and there is a lot of new upscale development going on. Downtown has always been a cool place to visit, but a few years ago, it seemed a lot more dirty and rundown.
