What to do with life when it has no meaning or purpose?

I'm in so much debt right now and I'm basically just living day to day, going to work to pay down debt. I'm not saving money (it's all going towards debt).

I am not working towards anything. I want to buy an engagement ring for my GF and get married, buy a car, house, go travelling... I can't do any of it, I can't even work towards it.

At the present rate, I'm just going to waste over 2 years of my life with nothing accomplished other than being able to say I have no debt. I won't have any money or any assets, I'll just be free of any commitments.

This is so depressing to just be floating through life...

You have to set some realistic goals for yourself to achieve.

I'm sitting on top of two car payments and a second mortgage payment. I am saving a small amount, but I feel like I'm really trapped for the next two years when I will be able to free up $900 per month.

I'll be out of debt in a few months though so it's easy for me to say.

Always try to save, even when you're paying down massive debt. Even $20/month, $40 per month. Try to build something (even if small) at the same time as you pay down. It'll help in the long run. That is the situation I'm in right now, but we're still able to save aggressively, so that once our debt is paid off, we'll still have some money to work with.

Since you don't say how old you are, it is hard to determine what to tell you. A two year plan to pay off debts is not that long. After you get your debt paid down then you can start saving for the future.

You screwed up by getting INTO DEBT.

At this point you should consider bankrupcy and attempt to start over. Living life paying off debts is horrible. Next time just don't get into debt.

Because I had a trip to Singapore for free (my uncle lives there and flew me out to see him). I just added a stop to India for an extra $100 out of my own pocket.

Look at all the blessings you have: gf to love, your health, a job that pays the bills, potential to be out of debt in a short time, etc. I know a lot of people who would have your life anyday.
