What to get?

Hey all, I am building a new sys. I am not sure what CPU I should get though. Here is what is gonna be in my sys:

Epox 8RDA+ mobo
Crucial 512mb PC3200 (DDR400)
Asylum Geforce 4 TI4200 128mb DDR
Onboard 6.1 w/ Dolby Digital
Maxtor 40gb, ATA 133, 7200rpm
Samsung 40gb, ATA 100, 5400rpm
Liteon 52x24x52 CD Burner
Samsung 16x DVD-ROM
Sony DVD+-RW 4x4x4x4x8x10x24x32
Enermax 350watt PSU
Volcano 11
6 System Fans
Round Cables
Windows 98SE, XP Pro, .NET Server 2003, and Linux Mandrake 9.

I would prefer to get a Barton because of the added cache but, a t'bred would be fine, too. I want to get at least a 2500. I am going to be o/c'ing it. I want to get the best deal for the least amount of money possible. Probably the max I could spend is around $225. So which CPU would be the best for my money? Thanks.

If I were you I'd get one of the "hot" overclockers. The 1700+ or the 2100+. You'll get the biggest bang for your buch that way. Spend the saved money on better RAM. Crucial and Kingston ValueRam are not doing well on the 8RDA+. Get some Corsair, Mushkin, or Kingston HyperX instead.

Look at my system rig below. I spent $110 for the 8RDA+ and $87 for the 2100+. Look at my CPU speed now.

Well, truthfully it is Micron. I got it from here. So would that be any good. I mean I already have everything ordered right now except the CPU. I already have the RAM. So should I just keep it or should I sell it on eBay or some place like that?

I'd get different memory, but that's just me. Call it peace of mind.

Never heard of any Micron chips doing DDR400. You might wanna sell that off.

Would it be advisable to get a stick of Mushkin instead? I am on a budget and after getting ripped off for $120 for something I bought online I am really on a budget. I bought something and the guy never shipped it. I have filed a complaint with PayPal and hopefully they will get my cash back. If they don't get it back that is when I go to Visa.

I pulled up the heatsink that the company put on there just enough so I could read the chip. It said Elixir? WTH is Elixir?
