What to put on a CD to hotflash the BIOS form it?

Hello eveyone, nice to be with you on this board!

I have the following problem:

I tried to flash the BIOS (Amibios) on my Notebook.
While in the process of programming the EPROM, the Notebook did a reset and came back up with the screen blank and no POST beep.

I took the latest known working BIOS-File, renamed it amiboot.rom and copied it onto a CD.

The Notebook seems willing to boot the BIOS from the CD (it tries several times before finally spinning down) but, alas, does not.
I tried several different CDs already, so I guess it can't be the disk can't be read.

Is there anything else I have to do to make the Notebook boot the BIOS from CD, am I missing something, or is it just dead dead?

Eek.

Do you have a floppy drive on your notebook? If so, do that and follow the instructions from your notebook manufacturer's home page - and please double-check that you're using the right BIOS!

If not, give the manufacturer a call and say that "it won't boot".

Welcome to AT Vimes....

Ok ... try this...

Make a bootable CD using Nero... (If you dont know how... do a search on the forum)

Copy the bios update files onto the CD and boot using that...

Try updating...(As MercenaryForHire said... make sure u got the right bios)

Or just copy the BIOS update files to a blank CD, then boot from a Win XP/ Win 2K CD, go into recovery console, switch CDs, go to the right drive letter, and run the update. On second thought, Abhi's way is prolly easier.

OK, thanks for the tips, but a regular boot CD is not an option.

Screen stays blank, no POST beep...

As far as I heard, it is possible to rename the BIOS file to amiboot.rom, put it on a floppy and let the BIOS boot from Floppy instead of the EPROM.

Since there is no built in Floppy drive on my notebook (only USB which definetly doesn't work) i tried to do the same thing from a CD. The machine obviously tried to initialize from the CD, but finally after about 2 minutes after power on it did a spindown and then did nothing more. I waited for another 15 minutes for the 4 beeps that should indicate the successful hotflash, but nada...

Should there be anything else on the CD or is it possible at all, that's the question.

Edit: There is no instructions on the manufacturer's website, no bios file for download even (they must have removed them for whatever reason)

Well, can you get into the CMOS setup to make sure your boot order is right?
