What TV (type, size, price) are you gaming on?

So I'm in the market for a TV upgrade which will primarily be used for (console) gaming, and light TV/movie watching. Figured I'd ask the forum of console gamers.

Post up about your TV, your thoughts/opinions on it, and how it handles gaming in your opinion. Would you recommend it to someone in the market? Would you buy it again? Anything you'd change?

Thanks!

TV? The last time I gamed on a television was with a 65" 16:9 RPTV (Mitsubishi Diamond series). I have sense migrated to projection setup in the home theater with a 105" diagonal in 16:9 mode.

the tv i was gaming on before i got my projector was a panasonic ST50 plasma tv. i did a lot of research and it was one of the HDTV's that had a great picture and has as minimal lag as you can get from a bigger HDTV.

but i've since upgraded to a projector and am on a 120" screen. i ended up getting a pansaonic ae8000 projector, and again, a huge reason i went with that one was due to the minimal input lag that it had, which is big for me in gaming since i'm a fighting game fan.

Vizio M701d

I mostly went with it because it's a good TV with passive 3D. While I'm not a rabid proponent of 3D, I do not like active 3D since I wear glasses (I have super hip clip-on 3D things). The 70" model also does not have a glass-based patterned retarder (the thing that polarizes the output), which having a glass-based one usually leads to awful reflections under any light. My LG TV upstairs also supports passive 3D, but it has a glass one. It's pretty much unwatchable with any direct sunlight.

Would I recommend Vizio's M-series? Probably not. The 2014 models dropped 3D, which means it's just got a few more features that no one cares about compared to the E-series. So, I'd say to save a good chunk of change and go with the E-series if you want a 2014+ Vizio.

If I had my own house, I'd probably look more toward a good projector. However, that depends a lot on the overall setup.

My consoles are connected to a 42" Panasonic plasma in my office. Not sure what the model is.

I flip between a 24" BenQ monitor, a 48" Sony Bravia and 55" Sony Bravia. The 48" is the sweet spot but I'm more comfortable with the monitor as I can sit on the couch and see the game with the monitor on a side table easier.

I was gaming on a 2nd generation LED backlit Samsung 46" TV. Now I'm gaming on an HP 25" xi in my office. I prefer the 25".

some generic-brand 40" no-frills LCD that we picked up on sale ages ago.

I do all my console gaming on the tv in our home office, because I feel bad monopolizing the big 65" tv in the living room.

Vizio M652i-B2 65 Inch LCD. It's fine, but if I was looking for an LCD specifically for gaming, I'd look for something with less input lag. Even in Game Mode, there is a noticeable (though not unplayable) delay. I don't do nearly enough gaming to warrant paying more for a lower-lag set, so the value made sense for me.

55" Sony LCD KDL55W900A. Got it for around $1800. In Game mode all processing effects are turned off for as minimal input lag as can be had from a TV.

27'' Dell S2740L 1080p IPS display. Great picture and colour accuracy. I do most of my gaming at my desk.

People are forgetting the most important part of gaming on a TV, make sure the TV you get has some type of "Game Mode" or something like that to turn off all the post processing TV's do. If you play online that's when it will really help, with faster paced games. I'm sure it won't matter much if allows you're playing is Dragon Age single player.

120 inch elite screens high gain screen for htpc and xbone ps3 360 etc. 7 year old Sanyo projo in sig. Cost me 700 bucks on sale a long time ago. Screen and mount and wiring cost more than the projo though this year I plan on putting in a 4k projo if prices fall a bit.

gt5 on the large screen in first person is breathtaking.

also use a 50 inch insignia plasma from 2010 for the kids to game on and I am always surprised at how good it looks. Cost 400 bucks back then. Was a rebranded Samsung then.

Yeah with my Sony it is a night and day difference. Most noticeable when I run my pc to it and move the mouse.
