65" Toshiba LCD. Not usable without game mode turned on.

That's for my XB1, the rest of my systems are hooked to a 32" LCD in the basement for the time being (more room to use the sensors).

When I feel like it, I hook one of my systems up to my projector, but I mainly just use that for watching movies and sports.

Last gen Panasonic Plasma P65ZT60. It is pretty much TV perfection. Very disapointed that it was discontinued way too early (it was out barely 6 months in stores before Panasonic stopped making plasma TV's).

Almost forgot about the retro setup

40'' Toshiba rear projection CRT. Still having trouble getting the blue cathode to focus properly, so the picture is soft. Works great though.

All 3 of the TVs in my house are Panasonic plasmas. I really wish I would've grabbed a ZT series before they were gone, but couldn't convince the wife.

It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission.

That's the theory I went with when I bought a 2nd ST60 for another room when they were closing out (Amazon price matched Fry's in-store closeout even though the nearest Fry's is a 6+ hour drive). Liked the first one so much I just had to get another before they were gone, no time for her to make a decision.

I'm incredibly happy with the ST60s ... don't really game on them so no big deal to me, and the room is dark enough where I didn't need the extra filters or whatever on the ZT. Seemed like an unnecessary $1200 upgrade for my uses

80" vizio led 3D
Play ps4 on it, played xbone KI on it. Don't use 3D for gaming much, but it's nice on Zen Pinball 3D.
Don't get me started on chatterbate

omg you win the award for nostalgic yet modern TV in this thread, I remember those frigging things. I had a 50" projector TV and it sucked to look at during the day but looked fantastic at night but the thing got SUPER hot which wasn't a great idea in the summer time.

Panny ST55, love it. Not upgrading until I can get a quality 70" 4K at a price I like which is going to be a few years yet.

It's a first generation HDTV. Will handle a 1080i signal via component, but it kind looks like poop compered to a modern LCD or Plasma display. After researching online, I found it's because the 7'' tubes are too small, so you get lines blurring together. The higher end units used larger 9'' CRTs to correct that problem.

A couple months back, I pulled it apart. Cleaned the mirror and lenses, and properly calibrated it.

My Wii U games look good on it but movies on Netflix not so much. I mostly use it for my retro systems. I also have a LaserDisc player that I got at a thrift store. The silver thing on the floor is a Sony Betamax. Not usually hooked up, but I was going through a box of old tapes to see what was on them.

Vizio M422i-B1

Currently only play 360 games and working on making it a Steam streaming setup with my HTPC.

The price was right. Between the post-Xmas promo and Amazon gift cards it was <$300.

Hey guys, OP here.

So I'm currently on a 42" Panasonic Viera plasma from about 6-7 years ago.

It has been wonderful, and the picture has been terrific. I guess what I'm wondering is, will a modern, high-quality LED TV from a good maker (say, a Sony, like this, have anywhere close to the same image quality and color depth as a plasma from several years ago?

Or is it simply a limitation of that particular technology?

Hey OP - the samsung 4k panel I linked in a prior post comes very close to the PQ of my old panny plasma, but it is definitely not "the" same and TBH if I could have purchased a larger plasma I would have done so (I could not due to because of size limitations imposed by the built in where my tv is hung and the fact that plasma tv's have a fairly wide bezel).

All in all though, I am very pleased with the Samsung. The picture is stunning (especially upscaled blu-rays and native 4k from netflix), and games look quite good despite being upscaled significantly. Game mode reduces input lag quite a bit but not totally though. And game images in game mode tend to be a bit on the "sharp" side. All that said, after having the TV for a few months now I can say that I do not notice the differences nearly as much as I did on day 1, and there are definitely areas where the samsung outshines my old panny.

60" Panasonic Plasma (VT series) ~2400 when I got it. BB price matched online deal - one of the best looking TVs existing currently. No longer made but its fantastic for everything
40" Samsung UN40H5203 - paid like 300 for it, - use it in a bedroom and for some gaming, works fine. looks and preforms well for what it cost
24" asus comp monitor - 150$? - I have to play serious FPS games on a monitor and sit close, I suck if I play on the TV

I use all 3 depending on what it is im doing
